Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Enterprise Architect over Governance and Standards is responsible for establishing and governing the methodology, frameworks, modeling standards, and tooling that underpin the Enterprise Business Architecture practice. This role ensures that architecture work products are produced consistently, stored systematically, and applied effectively across the team by owning the architecture repository, standards documentation, and practitioner guidance materials. The Enterprise Architect over Governance and Standards serves as the internal authority on frameworks such as APQC and BIZBOK, translating industry best practices into practical methods tailored to the organization's health insurance operating environment. This role also plays a key enablement function - coaching architects, onboarding new team members, and continuously improving the practice's processes to increase delivery quality, speed, and stakeholder impact.

- Designs and governs a comprehensive enterprise process hierarchy: Ensures that all business processes are aligned with strategic goals and objectives, and that the organization's architecture is optimized to support business outcomes
- Develops and maintains architecture methodology, standards, and frameworks: Owns and maintains the architecture methodology, standards, and frameworks, ensuring they are aligned with industry best practices and that all stakeholders understand their role in driving business outcomes
- Ensures consistency across the architecture practice: Develops and enforces standards, guidelines, and best practices, and provides training and support to architecture teams
- Supports standards-based decision making: Provides critical input on the potential impact of decisions on the organization's architecture, ensuring that all stakeholders understand the implications of their decisions.
- Drives methodology improvements and tooling upgrades: Leads continuous improvement of the architecture practice, ensuring that all stakeholders benefit from the latest best practices and innovations.
- Acts as an escalation point for complex challenges: Supports the Enterprise Business Architecture team and other stakeholders in resolving complex business capability challenges.
- Supports alignment between business architecture, enterprise architecture, and portfolio management functions: Ensures that business architecture outputs are used to guide enterprise decision-making
- Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation: Ensures that all stakeholders have access to accurate and up-to-date information on the enterprise process hierarchy, architecture standards, and methodology.
- Advises and supports architecture teams and stakeholders: Provides guidance and support to ensure that all stakeholders understand the role of architecture in driving business outcomes, and that architecture teams have the skills and knowledge they need to effectively contribute to the architecture practice.
- Partners with technology architecture teams and governance forums: Ensures that standards are aligned across the organization, and that the architecture practice is optimized to support business outcomes
Qualifications Required Work Experience
- 10+ years related work experience in business architecture, process design, or methodology
- 5+ years in a senior or principal architect role
- 2+ years managing architecture standards and frameworks
- Experience implementing architecture tooling
- Experience training business architects on tools and standards Functional expertise in at least one major business area
- Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience
- Broad familiarity with health insurance operations
- Thorough industry knowledge in related business area and understanding of impact on the organization
- Demonstrated experience in business architecture
- Strong concept visualization, presentation communication skills while interacting with a broad spectrum of internal and external individuals and departments
- Ability to challenge status quo and engage in conversations leading to innovation
- High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with business area and IT partners
- Experience in applying research methodology to business solutions
- Experience with business requirements and business process analysis to ensure IT solutions meet the business needs
- Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through project or technical leadership experience including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions and displaying appropriate levels of assertiveness
- Ability to clearly communicate to all levels and audiences
- Expertise in consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to communicate highly complex technical functional-level information into a simple presentment that is conveyed clearly and articulately for all levels and audiences
Preferred - Business Architecture related certifications
- Certified Business Architect Lean Competency System certification beneficial

Annualized Salary Range: $130,000 - $211,300
Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $130,000 - $162,500
Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
