About the role.

The Sr. Director, North America HR Operations & Manufacturing provides strategic Human Resources leadership for McCain's North America Operations and Manufacturing organization. Reporting to the Head of HR, North America, this role partners closely with senior Operations leaders to align people, organization, culture, and workforce strategies with business priorities across Manufacturing, Engineering & Maintenance, Food Safety & Quality, Technical Operations, Continuous Improvement, and Health & Safety.

This leader is responsible for advancing organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, leadership development, labor relations, employee engagement, and transformation initiatives while building the capabilities needed to support safe, productive, and high-performing operations across North America. The position manages a large team comprised of HR professionals across the US and Canada.

What you'll be doing.

  • Develop and execute the people strategy that supports North America manufacturing and operations objectives.
  • Partner with executive and operational leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, operational excellence, and sustainable business performance.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development strategies across manufacturing and operational functions.
  • Build leadership pipelines for critical plant, maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, and technical operations roles.
  • Develops leaders and HR talent who can operate with speed, clarity, and confidence in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Provide strategic HR leadership to manufacturing facilities and operations teams throughout North America.
  • Drive labor productivity, workforce effectiveness, organizational efficiency, and HR operational excellence.
  • Lead the people strategy for restructuring, integration, expansion, optimization, and transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee labor relations strategy, collective bargaining preparation, and employee relations risk management across unionized facilities.
  • Strengthen employee engagement, culture, inclusion, communication, wellbeing, and leadership effectiveness across operations.
  • Champion responsible adoption of AI-enabled HR capabilities to enhance workforce insights, reporting, decision support, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.


What you'll need to be successful.

  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressive senior HR leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, industrial, consumer products, or similar operational environments.
  • Proven ability to partner with executive and senior business leaders on complex organizational and people priorities.
  • Deep expertise in organizational design, labor relations, employee relations, talent management, succession planning, workforce planning, employee engagement, and change management.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale business transformation, restructuring, cost optimization, and operational change initiatives.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to connect people decisions to operational and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed HR teams and developing HR leadership capability.
  • Knowledge of labor relations strategy and collective bargaining processes within unionized environments.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled and digital tools to improve workforce insights, reporting, decision support, and HR effectiveness.
  • Strong executive presence, influencing skills, sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field required. Advanced education and/or HR certification is an asset.


About the team.

The Sr. Director, North America HR Operations & Manufacturing is a key member of the North America HR leadership team and serves as the senior HR partner to Operations and Manufacturing leadership. The role leads a team that includes two HR Directors and an Operations HR Business Partner, while supporting HR professionals across manufacturing plants and operational functions throughout North America. The team partners closely with leaders across Manufacturing, Engineering & Maintenance, Food Safety & Quality, Technical Operations, Continuous Improvement, Health & Safety, and HR Centers of Expertise to build organizational capability and deliver business results.

Compensation Package : $175,000.00 - $225,000.00 . CAD annually + Bonus eligibility + Long-term incentive eligibility
