Full Job Description
As a Sr. Database Administrator I, you'll join a collaborative, high-performing team responsible for designing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing mission-critical database environments supporting senior levels of the federal government.

What you'll do:
  • Administer and optimize on-premises and cloud database systems through management of schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures to ensure data integrity, consistency, and performance for enterprise applications and services.
  • Develop, execute, and refine SQL queries, scripts, and reporting logic to support data access, extraction, and analysis requirements. Support development of business intelligence reports and dashboards. primarily in Power Bl.
  • Implement and enforce data retention and data governance policies and access controls by managing user roles and permissions, auditing, backups, and data quality standards and policies.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence with your knowledge and skills, and use your creativity to provide innovative solutions that fit the customer's needs.

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise SQL databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • 3+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL database administration experience in production environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining PostgreSQL high-availability, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery solutions.
  • Experience managing database security controls, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience troubleshooting database performance, analyzing queries, optimizing indexes, and resolving production incidents.
  • Ability to automate routine database administration tasks using SQL, PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
  • Must meet DoD 8140 qualification requirements for DCWF Work Role 421 (Database Administrator) or 624 (Data Operations Specialist).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently support enterprise database environments of similar size, scope, and complexity.

SALARY RANGE: $138,000 - $184,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
