Full Job Description
Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD

Full time/Days:-8:00am-4:30pm

Saturdays Rotating

***Will Consider Cytogenetics Technologist or Sr. Cyogenetics Technologist Levels***

Position Summary:
  • Reports to Lead Clinical Lab Scientist or Supervisor.
  • Performs a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Prepares and determines suitability of solutions, reagents and stains, following defined formulas and procedures.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment by making routine repairs or notifying appropriate contacts when more complex problems occur.
  • May support both clinical and research aspects of the laboratory.
  • Performs related general duties such as ordering supplies, lab housekeeping, and maintaining safety records.
  • Requires a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.
  • Specific duties may vary according to rotation assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, genetics, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, or related field.


Work Experience:
  • Must have 2 years of related laboratory experience. Experience must include clinical laboratory rotation and knowledge of clinical laboratory tests and equipment acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree or equivalent education & training that meets minimum science coursework (biology, chemistry, genetics, microbiology, hematology or related - making one eligible to sit for certification).


Certification:
  • ASCP certification for Cytogenetics, CG(ASCP)

Salary Range: Minimum 37.02/hour - Maximum 61.11/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
