Full Job Description

What You'll Be Doing

You will be joining Enterprise Innovation team that plays a key role in CIBC’s mission to build the bank of the future by providing the enterprise with human-centered insights into emerging trends and technologies. As a Sr. Consultant, Full Stack Developer, you will report to the Director of Enterprise Innovation and be responsible for building and scaling the Incubation & Technical Delivery team’s technology capabilities. You will work in an agile environment with Developers, UX/UI Designers, Architects, Product partners, and key stakeholders to move ideas from discovery into rapid prototypes, proof of concepts, and program launches to uncover new innovation-driven opportunities and deliver tangible enterprise value. You will be accountable for hands-on engineering delivery, providing technical leadership to ensure solutions are secure, resilient, maintainable, aligned to enterprise architecture and risk standards. You will translate complex technologies into clear, plain language for stakeholders, helping teams align on decisions, while bringing curiosity and a self-teaching mindset to continuously learn, experiment, and apply emerging technologies.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You'll Succeed

  • Solution Design and Development - Lead the design and development of cost-effective solutions around Enterprise Innovation team’s key Business Goals & Objectives. Program and deliver high-quality code to contribute meaningfully to the implementation of those Business Goals & Objectives. Design application’s technical infrastructure (OCP, Firebase, GCP) across front-end, back-end, cloud services, and data stores using appropriate databases, programming languages (React, Angular, TypeScript, Python, SQL), utilities, and testing approaches. Coordinate complex application programming activities, run code review and code merge sessions with the wider team to ensure the project stays on track to meet objectives. Leverage code management and CI/CD processes to translate design concepts and patterns into implemented solutions, and work with relational database management systems and vector database systems.
  • Effective Communications –  Recommend, plan, and implement solutions to technical challenges, and bring the right people together to solve problems and remove bottlenecks. Acknowledge ownership when work is assigned and clarify next steps. Provide a clear visibility into work in progress, what’s completed, what’s next, and any blockers, resulting in less rework, smoother handoffs and no surprises. Comfortable explaining technical concepts to executive level management. Strong technical writing skills.
  • Agile Delivery with speed – You support agile ways of working, innovation, and change, ensuring fast delivery, within scope and budget, and future-proofed. Plan and document sufficient detail in backlog items (requirements, acceptance criteria, effort required, dependencies, etc.) before start implementation. Manage multiple priorities and iterate effectively.
  • Build Relationships  – Establish close relationships with business stakeholders. Act as a liaison between internal product leaders, business partners, and innovation partners on technical plans, software development roadmaps, features, and policies.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience: as a technology expert with a strong track record and minimum 5+ years’ experience in technology design and development. A College or University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline is preferred. You have experience working with cloud hyperscalers (e.g., Azure, GCP, others) and using code-generation tools such as GitHub Copilot. Startup or development agency experience is a strong asset.
  • Full-stack engineering fundamentals: You have experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and are comfortable delivering solutions across front-end, back-end services/integrations, and production-ready engineering practices (e.g., code reviews, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and operational readiness). You uphold strong coding standards (e.g., SOLID) and have required experience with React, TypeScript, Python, Git, and RESTful web services. You bring genuine curiosity and a self-teaching mindset, proactively learning and applying emerging technologies (e.g., Unreal Engine (XR/VR), Azure Databricks) to real business problems. You can demonstrate experience and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams in Agile Sprint/Kanban environments.
  • Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by making yourself heard.
  • You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace leading-edge technologies. As a result, you can quickly adapt to new tools and trends.
  • You're driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to create a shared vision.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
