Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support cloud architecture, deployment, optimization, and sustainment activities within a major federal modernization program. This role ensures secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud environments that support application, data, migration, and DevSecOps operations. The Senior Cloud Engineer collaborates with Full Stack Engineers, Data Engineers, DevSecOps teams, QA Automation, and Product teams to build and maintain resilient cloud infrastructure aligned with mission-critical requirements.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
• Design, build, and optimize cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise applications and data pipelines
• Implement cloud-native services, compute configurations, load balancing, and storage solutions
• Support modernization and migration of legacy workloads into cloud environments
• Ensure cloud deployments meet performance, scalability, and availability targets
Infrastructure Automation & DevSecOps Support
• Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tooling
• Support CI/CD integration and automation for application and infrastructure deployments
• Implement monitoring, logging, observability, and automated alerting
• Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to maintain secure deployment pipelines
Security & Compliance
• Implement cloud security controls including IAM policies, encryption, network segmentation, and auditing
• Ensure adherence to federal security standards within cloud environments
• Support vulnerability mitigation, patching, hardening, and continuous compliance activities
Troubleshooting & Optimization
• Diagnose issues related to cloud resources, network configurations, deployments, and integrations
• Perform root-cause analysis on cloud performance degradations or service interruptions
• Work closely with development, testing, and migration teams to address cloud-related issues
Collaboration & Agile Delivery
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical design discussions
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and support cloud adoption best practices
• Coordinate cloud activities across development, migration, testing, and operations workstreams
Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare technical documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration details, SOPs, and runbooks
• Provide updates on cloud performance, incidents, and optimization activities
• Maintain documentation supporting audits and operational continuity
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud operations, or infrastructure engineering
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security, automation)
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud automation tools
• Proficiency in cloud networking, VPC design, routing, security groups, and load balancing
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting federal modernization or national-security programs
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience with performance tuning and cost optimization in cloud environments
