About the job

This position is a key leader within the marketing team responsible to lead, develop and drive all aspects of our Parasiticide Rx Legacy Brands portfolio, which includes some of the most important and established brands in the US Pet Health portfolio, such as Credelio, Credelio CAT, Interceptor Plus, Trifexis, and Advantage Multi. This role is critical to maintaining the success and market share of Elanco's core parasiticide business.

Responsibilities include the strategic management of the legacy portfolio, competitive defense strategies, lifecycle management (LCM), and marketing communications development. This leader is also responsible for managing and developing an Associate Brand Manager, contributing to the overall development of our marketing capabilities, and advocating for the portfolio's strategic importance within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Innovation Leadership
  • Portfolio Strategy: Develop and drive the multi-year brand strategy for the Legacy Parasiticide portfolio, ensuring these core brands continue to deliver value and maintain their position as trusted solutions for veterinarians and pet owners.
  • Competitive Strategies: Design and execute robust competitive strategies to defend market share against new entrants and established competitors in the parasiticide category.
  • Lifecycle Management (LCM): Partner with Regulatory, R&D, and Innovation teams to drive the LCM agenda, identifying opportunities for line extensions, new indications, or packaging innovations to extend brand relevance.
  • Internal Advocacy: Act as a primary advocate for the legacy portfolio, ensuring senior leadership is aligned with brand trajectories, resource requirements, and the portfolio's role in funding future innovations.

Brand Messaging and Activation
  • Messaging Strategy: Architect compelling messaging platforms and value propositions rooted in deep market research to ensure resonance with both pet owners (B2C) and veterinary professionals (B2B).
  • Commercial Integration: Partner with Vet Sales and Retail leadership to translate brand strategies into actionable field tactics, ensuring marketing programs are "sales-ready" and drive immediate share-of-voice.
  • Agency Leadership: Direct agency partners in the development of "best-in-class" creative assets and marketing materials that elevate the brands' presence and support field execution.

Insights and Analytics
  • Insight Synthesis: Translate complex market research, consumer behavior data, and customer feedback into actionable strategic pivots and persuasive business cases for senior leadership.
  • Market Intelligence: Proactively monitor category trends, dispensing data, and competitor moves to identify "white space" opportunities or threats, adjusting tactical plans in real-time.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Highly analytical; excel in reading and interpreting research reports to make high-stakes strategic recommendations that balance short-term sales goals with long-term brand health.

Customer Centricity
  • KOL & Influencer Engagement: Cultivate strategic partnerships with veterinary Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and industry influencers to drive brand advocacy and scientific credibility for the legacy portfolio.
  • Sales Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Strategic Accounts, and Retail teams to develop tailored marketing solutions that grow share-of-voice within vet clinics, large corporate accounts, and key retail partners.
  • External Liaison: Represent Elanco at major industry conferences and trade shows, building positive relationships with relevant external bodies and professional organizations.

Managerial and Capability Building
  • Talent Development: Directly manage and coach an Associate Brand Manager, personalizing their development plan to foster a high-performance culture and long-term professional growth.
  • Marketing Excellence: Lead by example to elevate the department's overall marketing capabilities, sharing best practices in consumer media, retail activation, and digital transformation.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Leverage the diversity of the team to strengthen performance and results, fostering an environment of ownership and growth in line with Elanco Cultural Pillars.

Business Acumen and Financial Ownership
  • Financial Stewardship: Own the budget for the Legacy Parasiticide portfolio, ensuring disciplined spend and resourceful allocation to maximize ROI and meet sales and profit goals.
  • Forecasting Accuracy: Partner with Demand Planning, Finance, and Supply Chain to deliver highly accurate commercial forecasts, maintaining accuracy for all brands within the portfolio.
  • Executive Communication: Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations for senior leadership, articulating brand performance and strategic requirements with clarity and confidence.

Basic Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree, Marketing/Business focus
  • 5+ years of experience in Brand/Marketing
  • 2+ years of experience in Pet Retail
  • People management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively across teams and cross-functional business partners

Additional Skills/ Preferences
  • Brand management in Pet Health or consumer packaged goods
  • Retail marketing and eCommerce experience preferred
  • Thrives in fast paced environment with ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
