Full Job Description
Job Description

This is a growth role for a Patient Access subject matter expert who will help EXL originate, shape, and convert patient access opportunities across health systems, integrated delivery networks, and large specialty provider organizations. The role combines hands-on patient access expertise with client engagement, solutioning, and capability development.

The individual will partner with sales, account, operations, digital, data, and technology teams throughout the pursuit lifecycle. They will participate in discovery and executive client meetings, translate operational priorities into differentiated solutions, support proposals and commercials, and help move qualified opportunities through closure. The role will also help build EXL's patient access offering, reusable solution assets, partner ecosystem, and market credibility.

Responsibilities

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
  • Patient Access Sales Growth - Partner with sales and account leaders to build pipeline, qualify opportunities, and drive revenue across patient access, access-center operations, patient experience, and related front-end revenue-cycle services.
  • Client Discovery and Executive Engagement - Lead or support discovery workshops, client meetings, and executive discussions with Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, Operations, Experience, Digital, and Technology leaders.
  • Patient Access Subject Matter Expertise - Bring practical expertise across access-center operations, appointment scheduling, registration, referral intake and coordination, eligibility and benefits verification, financial clearance, prior-authorization intake, point-of-service collections, and patient communications.
  • Sales Solution Design - Translate client requirements, operating data, and performance challenges into a clear solution covering scope, workflows, staffing, location strategy, governance, SLAs, implementation approach, technology, analytics, automation, and business outcomes.
  • Proposal and Deal Support - Develop and review proposals, presentations, RFP responses, statements of work, business cases, and solution narratives; support pricing assumptions, effort estimates, and client presentations through closure.
  • Revenue Ownership - Carry revenue and pipeline expectations aligned to the role; maintain disciplined opportunity progression, support conversion, and contribute to expansion of signed engagements.
  • Capability and Offering Build - Help define and mature EXL's patient access proposition, operating model, playbooks, diagnostics, solution architectures, reusable content, demos, case studies, and outcome measures.
  • Technology and AI Enablement - Shape practical patient access solutions using CCaaS, conversational AI, agent assist, interaction analytics, workflow automation, digital front-door capabilities, and EHR-integrated workflows without losing sight of operational feasibility.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration - Work across sales, operations, transition, technology, digital, analytics, finance, legal, and delivery teams to create commercially viable and executable solutions.
  • Market Development - Contribute to thought leadership, conference participation, partner discussions, analyst briefings, and targeted account strategies that strengthen EXL's credibility in patient access.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Delivery Readiness - Support handoff from sales to implementation, validate solution assumptions, and remain engaged during early mobilization to protect client commitments and intended business outcomes.

Skills and Personal attributes required:
  • Patient Access Domain Depth - Strong understanding of provider patient access operations and the operational, financial, and patient-experience outcomes they influence.
  • Consultative Growth Orientation - Ability to identify the underlying problem, shape the opportunity, and connect solutions to measurable client value and revenue potential.
  • Solutioning Capability - Comfort designing integrated people, process, technology, analytics, and governance solutions rather than relying on a standard staffing response.
  • Executive Communication - Strong presence and communication skills, with the ability to explain operating issues and solution choices clearly to both functional leaders and CXOs.
  • Commercial Awareness - Working knowledge of managed-services economics, pricing inputs, transition assumptions, service levels, dependencies, and risks.
  • Technology Fluency - Practical understanding of EHR scheduling and patient-access workflows; including experience with Epic and Oracle, CCaaS platforms, CRM tools, digital front-door solutions, conversational AI, automation, and reporting.
  • Outcome Orientation - Ability to structure solutions around access, conversion, productivity, patient experience, revenue capture, quality, and cost-to-serve outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Influence - Ability to lead through influence across sales, SMEs, product, operations, and enabling functions in a matrixed environment.
  • Execution Mindset - Comfort working through ambiguity, managing multiple pursuits, and producing high-quality client-ready output under deadlines.
  • Market Awareness - Active knowledge of provider priorities, patient access trends, relevant platforms, competitors, and emerging AI-enabled operating models.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, operations, technology, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 15+ of healthcare industry experience with 8+ years of relevant experience across healthcare provider operations, consulting, solutioning, sales, or transformation, including significant responsibility for patient access.
  • Prior experience running patient access functions within a health system organization would be preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in CX tech stack across platforms such as Genesys, NICE, Google, Amelia.
  • Hands-on experience with access-center or front-end revenue-cycle functions such as scheduling, registration, eligibility, referrals, financial clearance, prior-authorization intake, or patient contact-center operations.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in client pursuits and shaping solutions, proposals, presentations, or RFP responses.
  • Evidence of supporting revenue growth, new-logo acquisition, account expansion, or conversion of advisory and operational opportunities.
  • Experience working with health systems, IDNs, academic medical centers, ambulatory networks, or large specialty provider organizations.
  • Familiarity with leading EHR and patient access ecosystems; experience with Epic scheduling or comparable EHR workflows is valued.
  • Willingness to travel to client and EXL locations as required.

As part of a leading global Data and AI company, you can look forward to:
  • A competitive total rewards package, including variable incentive opportunity aligned to applicable revenue and performance goals.
  • Professional and personal development opportunities, including access to learning programs, workshops, and domain, technology, and leadership development.
  • A flexible hybrid working model that supports effective client engagement, collaboration, and a balanced working lifestyle.
