The Opportunity

The Demand Planning Sr. Analyst is a key player in the $3 billion US & Canada Consumer Packaging business, which includes 35 carton-converting facilities. The Sr. Analyst collaborates with Commercial Sales, Marketing, and Operations leaders to ensure an integrated approach to demand planning, playing a vital role in the Integrated Business Planning Process (IBP). This role is crucial for creating accurate demand forecasts through statistical techniques, detailed data collection and analysis, and adherence to best practices. The Sr. Analyst must execute complex data modeling and have extensive knowledge of advanced planning systems and statistical forecasting. As an individual contributor with a deep understanding of demand planning and supply chain management, the Sr. Analyst may also coach other team members. The planning horizon for this role ranges from 2 to 24 months. This role involves frequent interaction with analysts and managers, occasionally leading cross-functional meetings, and reports directly to the Director, Demand Planning.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
  • Develop and align monthly demand for the 2 - 24-month horizon with assigned area of responsibility within the Smurfit Westrock Consumer Packaging team
  • Facilitate a quarterly process with commercial teams to provide forecasts beyond 24 months (3-5 years) as input into the Long-Term Capacity Planning and Network Design processes, supporting Strategic Planning efforts.
  • Work closely with the Demand Planning leadership to test, validate, and execute best practices for forecasting. Validate inputs, run modeling scenarios, and propose ways to improve metrics. Establish relationships with cross-functional partners to gather timely data and inputs.
  • Support team and department priorities. Align demand plans with business leadership through monthly demand reviews as part of the integrated business planning processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of unified tools, systems, and processes to enhance planning efficiency and consistency across the organization, in alignment with company-wide strategies.
  • Work with leadership to provide data insights and meaningful analysis that can lead to business decisions.
  • Analyze forecasts, prepare reports, measure KPIs, and communicate with cross-functional teams to support the monthly unconstrained demand forecasting process. Collaborate with cross-functional partners on ad hoc analysis, follow-ups, or other forecasting-related activities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure KPI targets are met; establish best practices with guidance from Demand Planning leadership teams.

What You need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree is required. A degree specializing in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or Operations is preferred.
  • Experience in supply chain planning, logistics, procurement, or engineering.
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis and statistics; knowledge of forecasting methodologies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytic techniques to interpret data, identify issues, analyze causes, and provide well-reasoned conclusions and solutions.
  • Experience in advanced planning systems (SAP, Blue Yonder, Logility, o9 is a plus).
  • Experience using Excel and Access for analysis and tools.
  • Experience building data workflows and visualization with tools such as PowerBI, Alteryx, or similar.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, considering diverse perspectives and different styles.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all business function areas is required.
  • Preferred skills: In-depth knowledge of MRP; APICS CPIM certification.
