What you'll be doing

As a Senior Financial Analyst within the Financial Planning & Analysis group, you'll be a key member of the consolidation team supporting the US Region. In this role, you'll contribute to consolidated forecasting, reporting, capital planning, and RWA analysis for the US Region. You'll also play a pivotal role in preparing investor, shareholder, and Board reports, helping to shape the financial narrative for internal and external stakeholders. Your expertise will ensure accurate, insightful analysis that supports strategic decision-making and drives business performance.

How you'll succeed
  • Reporting & Analysis - Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, Board reports, and analyses to support reporting needs across the US Region. Provide insightful analysis that highlights business drivers and effectively communicates the financial story. Collaborate with the broader team to deliver in-depth expense analysis and become the expense subject matter expert (SME). Assist with the creation of quarterly earnings memos and review competitor results to identify industry trends and benchmark company performance.


  • Forecasting and Planning - Monitor ongoing business activities for impacts to planning and forecasting deliverables, communicating changes to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, US Region as appropriate. Prepare executive-level presentations summarizing US Region forecasts, providing targeted financial information and analysis to the CFO, US Region. Take ownership of select top-level forecasting activities and develop relationships within the global finance team to gather and interpret forecast inputs.


  • Ad Hoc Analysis - Support ad hoc requests from various stakeholders, including senior finance managers, cross border collaboration to support reporting requirements of the US Region, Corporate Treasury, and Risk functions, ensuring timely and accurate responses.


Who you are
  • You bring advanced analytical skills. You have strong knowledge of MS Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and data manipulation, and are comfortable working with large data sets.
  • You're a compelling communicator. You can prepare executive-level PowerPoint presentations that clearly "tell the story" of the financials and business performance.
  • You're adaptable with technical tools. You have experience with Essbase and business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI (preferred, but not required).
  • You understand banking fundamentals. You have a solid grasp of banking basics, including a bank's balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) statements.
  • You're proactive and independent. You are a self-starter who can work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have relevant experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning or Financial Reporting, preferably within the banking industry.
  • You're flexible and resilient. You are comfortable working under tight deadlines and understand that occasional weekend work may be required during quarter-end reporting cycles. Floating vacation days are provided when weekend work occurs.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $95,000 - $115,000K for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
