Job SummaryThe Senior Advisor, Trade Compliance, serves as the Company's principal non-attorney subject matter resource for import compliance execution and supports the integration of the Company's import and export compliance activities. This role has primary responsibility for carrying out the Company's import compliance program in daily practice, including customs entry oversight, tariff classification, valuation, country-of-origin determinations, and recordkeeping, and for translating program requirements into workable procedures for the business.
Reporting to the Lead Counsel, Import and Trade Compliance, the Senior Advisor, Trade Compliance, will work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and outside trade advisors and will serve as a day-to-day technical resource on customs and trade regulatory questions arising across the enterprise.
The Senior Advisor, Trade Compliance, will support import program governance, CTPAT activities, regulatory filings and responses to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, special duty programs, audit remediation, and ERP and trade technology modernization initiatives.
Position OverviewYour Key Responsibilities may include:Import Compliance Program Support- Support the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Company's import compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support the network of Import Compliance Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) across Supply Chain, Commercial, and other business units and functions.
- Determine and maintain import record retention requirements and documentation management processes for import transactions.
- Track audit remediation items and entry changes through closure.
Customs Operations and Broker Oversight- Review customs broker entries for accuracy and completeness and engage with outside vendors on entry quality.
- Perform customs broker oversight, including broker surveys, periodic reviews, and adherence to the Company's broker management procedures.
- Support filings and responses to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including responses to CF-28 requests for information and CF-29 notices, post summary corrections, and protests.
- Support CTPAT program activities, including annual audit preparation and evidence collection.
Classification, Valuation, and Special Duty Programs- Serve as a technical resource on tariff classification, customs valuation, and country-of-origin determinations, and engage outside HTS classification experts where required.
- Support administration of Section 232 and Section 301 special duty programs.
- Support tax optimization initiatives involving free trade agreements, Chapter 98, duty drawback, and foreign trade zones.
- Support IEEPA-related refund and duty recovery efforts.
Supply Chain and Commercial Support- Engage with Supply Chain to collect documentation needed for customs entries and to answer questions from brokers.
- Provide practical guidance to Supply Chain and Commercial regarding planned imports and cross-border transactions.
- Support Supply Chain on logistics issues that implicate customs compliance.
Export Compliance and Technology Integration- Support alignment between the import and export compliance programs.
- Support ERP implementation and configuration changes affecting trade compliance.

Basic Requirements:- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- 7 or more years of experience in import compliance, customs, international trade, export compliance, or related regulatory matters.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or administering a trade compliance program in a complex corporate environment.
- Experience preparing and reviewing customs documentation, including entry summaries and supporting records.
- Working knowledge of:
- U.S. customs laws and regulations
- Customs valuation and tariff classification
- Import recordkeeping requirements
- CBP entry, post-entry, and enforcement processes
- Experience working directly with customs brokers and supporting responses to CBP inquiries.
- Strong organizational, project management, written communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to effectively balance regulatory risk management with business objectives.
Preferred Requirements:- Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, or similar trade compliance designation.
- Working knowledge of export control and sanctions regulations.
- Experience supporting CTPAT programs, customs audits, prior disclosures, and government trade enforcement matters.
- Experience with non-U.S. customs and logistics.
- Experience with ERP systems, customs automation platforms, and other trade compliance technologies.
- Experience supporting multinational organizations with complex supply chain and global operations.
- Experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party trade service providers.
- Experience developing and delivering trade compliance training to business stakeholders.
- Experience in the energy or industrial sector.
