OverviewThe Analyst, Cost Accounting is responsible for inventory accounting, cost analysis, and financial reporting processes within a medical device publicly traded company. This position offers the unique opportunity to support the Company’s allograft division, which focuses on human vascular recovery and tissue processing operations. Reporting to the Manager, Cost Accounting, this role ensures accurate product costing, supports SEC reporting and SOX compliance, and partners cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and FP&A to drive financial visibility and control over inventory-related accounts.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze inventory valuation (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Analyze and report manufacturing variances (labor, overhead, material usage, purchase price variance).
- Review and monitor inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, and adjustments.
- Track, reconcile, and maintain tissue inventory records for the allograft product line.
- Coordinate with donor organizations to support tissue procurement, processing, and distribution activities.
- Support the allograft division with financial and operational analysis.
- Maintain tissue yield analysis, reporting, and related performance metrics.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of worldwide tissue inventory logs.
- Support quarterly audit requirements through inventory and cost of sales analysis.
- Participate in annual physical inventories and cycle count programs.
- Develop inventory and operational reports by product line and key business metrics.
- Monitor inventory valuation accuracy and identify risks related to excess and obsolete inventory.
- Partner with operations teams to improve processes, workflows, and inventory controls.
- Prepare transfer pricing analysis supporting global business policies.
- Assist with worldwide SOX compliance and internal control initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of professional experience
- 1–3 years of accounting or cost accounting related experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI).
- Experience in a publicly traded company and SOX-regulated environment.
- Manufacturing or medical device industry experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Knowledge of inventory accounting and standard costing methodologies
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Pay range $90,000- $130,000 per year
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base pay range for this job at the time of posting. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including , relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
