Job Description Summary

The Director, Concierge Rehabilitation provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for Concierge Rehabilitation services across Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. The director is responsible for service line strategy, business planning, program development, financial performance, operational excellence, and project management to  support the continued growth and success of Concierge Rehabilitation services. They represent Shirley Ryan AbilityLab as the organizational leader for Concierge Rehabilitation, partnering across the enterprise and with external stakeholders to advance program development, service excellence, innovation, and strategic growth.

The Director, Concierge Rehabilitation is accountable for achieving established goals related to quality, patient experience, operational excellence, financial performance, program growth, employee engagement, research, academic achievement, and regulatory compliance.


Job Description

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for Concierge Rehabilitation operations ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care, regulatory, compliance, and consistent and operational standards.

  • Develops long-term strategic plans and identifies opportunities for new programs, service expansion, and innovative care models based on organizational priorities, market trends, and patient needs.

  • Leads implementation of new programs, service expansion, and strategic initiatives to support organizational growth and enhance patient access and experience.

  • Develops communication and education strategies to increase awareness of Concierge Rehabilitation services among physicians, clinical departments, administrators, referral sources, and community partners.

  • Partners with Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate program oversight.

  • Partners with Revenue Cycle and Finance to optimize billing processes, reimbursement, financial performance, and operational efficiency

  • Develops and manages operating and capital budgets; monitors financial performance, forecasts future growth, evaluates profitability, and recommends strategies to improve operational and financial outcomes.

  • Establishes standardized documentation processes that support quality, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and program evaluation.

  • Establishes standardized processes for measuring and communicating participant progress, outcomes, and overall program value.

  • Recruits, develops, mentors, and retains high-performing leaders and staff while fostering employee engagement, accountability, succession planning, and professional development.

  • Partners collaboratively across clinical, operational, research, finance, marketing, and executive leadership teams to advance organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.

  • Partners closely with Global Patient Services and physician leadership to coordinate individualized patient solutions, enhance the concierge experience, and identify future service opportunities.

  • Partners with Marketing and Business Development to increase program visibility, strengthen referral relationships, identify target markets, and support growth initiatives.

  • Provides leadership, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and workforce development to build and sustain a high-performing team aligned with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s culture and strategic objectives.

  • Promotes innovation and evidence-based practice through collaboration with researchers, academic institutions, industry partners, and clinicians to advance Concierge Rehabilitation services.

  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators related to patient experience, quality, operational efficiency, employee engagement, and financial performance.

  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives utilizing data analytics and performance improvement methodologies.

  • Identifies and develops strategic partnerships and business opportunities that support the growth and long-term sustainability of Concierge Rehabilitation.

  • Represents Concierge Rehabilitation on organizational committees and serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding service line development.

  • Direct Concierge Program Managers in the establishment and integration of clinically sound processes and procedures into practice, ensuring quality care and adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Through ongoing analysis of industry trends, business need, value to patients and ability to advance organizational mission, propose recommendations for new and/or expansion of program offerings.

  • Execute development of new and expansion of existing program offerings based on organizational need, patient benefit, industry trends and leadership alignment.

  • Ongoing education of other hospital departments, administrators and medical staff on program offerings, appropriate patients and referral process.

  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the Vice President, Outpatient DayRehab Operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Rehabilitation Sciences, or related field preferred. Licensure or registration in the State of Illinois, if applicable for professional discipline.

  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible healthcare leadership experience, including demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams, strategic planning, financial management, operational improvement, and program development.

  • Quantitative and analytical ability to evaluate organizational and financial performance, to develop marketing strategy and forecast staffing needs.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership and communicate effectively with patients, patient families, referring parties, managed care organizations and payors, center and other Shirley Ryan AbilityLab system-wide staff.

  • Demonstrated experience in business planning, healthcare operations, financial stewardship, and service line growth.

  • Experience developing strategic partnerships and leading cross-functional initiatives.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret operational, quality, and financial data to support executive decision-making.

  • Demonstrated leadership in change management, continuous improvement, and organizational development.
