The BNSF Railway's Transportation Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe movement of goods across one of North America's largest freight rail transportation networks. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating and overseeing the complex logistics of rail transportation. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to safety, leadership, problem-solving skills, and a dedication to enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our transportation services.

Travelis frequent and up to 50%

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in implementing policy and executing the operating plan. Supervise TY&E employees and plan daily train and switching operations consistent with safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct operations tests and safety meetings.
  • Monitor and control costs to meet goals.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries.
  • Supervise, train and develop trainmasters within territory.
  • Supervise train, engine, and yard crews for safe and efficient operation.
  • Ensure compliance with BNSF's equal employment policies, safety and operating rules, schedule agreements, and Government regulations.
  • Position will require shift, holiday, and weekend work.
  • Position requires BNSF Front Line Supervisor Certification.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must possess a working knowledge of operating rules and schedule agreements applicable to the TY&E crafts
  • Must be BNSF Front Line Supervisor Certified
  • Must be a certified locomotive engineer
  • Must possess leadership and organizational skills as well as excellent working knowledge of day-to-day railroad operations and practices
  • Must possess strong TSS Xpress system knowledge
  • Requires a motivated, self-directed individual with excellent organizational skills and a strong work ethic
  • Must have Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise people
  • Must have ability to communicate well, one-on-one and in groups
  • Must be safety conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior terminal and/or road operations experience is preferred
  • DSLE certification preferred
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, FRA, and EEO) is preferred
