Full Job Description
About the role

Massed Compute is looking for a Solutions Engineer to help customers turn demanding AI and high-performance compute requirements into successful deployments on our platform.

You'll work across sales, customers, product, engineering, and infrastructure to understand technical requirements, shape solutions, unblock deals, and ensure what we promise can be delivered well. Part of the role is pre-sales: helping customers evaluate architecture, workloads, performance, deployment approaches, and technical fit. Part of the role is systems-building: creating repeatable technical assets, feedback loops, and operating processes that improve win rates, reduce implementation risk, and make the commercial team more effective over time.

This role sits at the intersection of technical depth, customer empathy, and execution. You should be comfortable moving between a customer call, a technical architecture discussion, a product gap analysis, and an internal conversation about how to make a solution real.

This is a builder role. We're looking for someone who can both solve hard customer problems directly and help build the solutions engineering function, playbooks, and assets that scale with the business.

What success looks like

In your first 8-12 months, you will have helped us win and expand meaningful customer opportunities, improved the quality and consistency of our technical sales process, and built stronger bridges between customer needs and our product and infrastructure decisions.

Critically, you will have helped Massed Compute become faster and more credible in technical customer conversations while improving our ability to turn complex requirements into repeatable, high-confidence solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Support technical sales. Partner with go-to-market teammates on discovery, solution design, technical validation, and customer-facing problem solving throughout the sales process
  • Translate customer requirements into workable solutions. Assess workloads, architecture needs, infrastructure constraints, performance expectations, and implementation tradeoffs
  • Build customer confidence. Lead technical conversations, answer deep product and infrastructure questions, and help customers understand why our platform is the right fit for their use case
  • Reduce implementation risk. Identify technical gaps, dependencies, and delivery risks early, and work cross-functionally to address them before they become customer problems.
  • Create repeatable assets. Build demos, solution briefs, technical collateral, playbooks, FAQs, and other tools that make the technical sales motion more scalable
  • Close the loop with product and engineering. Turn customer feedback, objections, and recurring requirements into actionable input for roadmap, product improvements, and packaging
  • Support onboarding and expansion. Help ensure customers get from signed deal to successful usage quickly, and identify opportunities to deepen technical adoption over time
  • Improve internal systems. Build lightweight processes, documentation, and workflows that make solutions work more visible, more repeatable, and less dependent on heroics
  • Bring leverage through AI. Use AI tools aggressively in your own work to accelerate research, solution development, documentation, and technical communication
  • Help build the function. Over time, shape the standards, tools, and operating model for how solutions engineering works at Massed Compute

Qualifications

You may be a good fit if you have...
  • Strong ability to understand technical products and explain them clearly to sophisticated customers
  • Experience translating messy customer requirements into concrete technical solutions and next steps
  • Comfort moving between pre-sales conversations, technical architecture work, and internal cross-functional execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication, especially in customer-facing technical contexts
  • The ability to earn trust with both commercial and engineering stakeholders
  • Good judgment about what matters technically, what matters commercially, and how to balance the two
  • A track record of creating reusable assets and processes instead of solving every problem from scratch
  • Comfort operating with limited structure while creating structure for others
  • High ownership and follow-through; you stay close to important customer and technical details until they are resolved
  • Fluency with AI tools and excitement about using them to improve technical work and customer outcomes

Desired background (we encourage you to apply even if you don't check every box)
  • Typically 5-10+ years of professional experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, forward-deployed engineering, technical account management, product engineering, developer relations, or a similarly high-responsibility role. We care more about scope and results than years of experience
  • Experience at a high-growth technology company, rapidly scaling startup, or similarly demanding environment
  • Experience working with highly technical products, ideally in cloud infrastructure, AI, developer tools, data infrastructure, or adjacent markets
  • Experience partnering closely with both customers and internal product or engineering teams
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Bonus points if you...
  • Understand the compute landscape and the practical realities of AI infrastructure deployments
  • Have worked directly with cloud infrastructure, GPU workloads, model training or inference, cluster environments, or adjacent technical systems
  • Have built demos, prototypes, or technical proof-of-concept environments in support of customer conversations
  • Are fluent with AI tools such as Claude, Codex, and related workflow automation tools
  • Have a background in engineering or computer science paired with strong customer-facing instincts

Benefits
  • Market competitive compensation
  • We are a remote-first company. You'll get a stipend to dial in your setup and additional opportunities to connect with your peers during periodic in person team gatherings
  • Flexible PTO policy with the expectation that you take the time you need to recharge
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, 30% of premiums for dependents, plus a tax-advantaged Flexible Spending Account
  • Company-facilitated 401(k) retirement plan
  • Parental leave for all new parents
