About this role:

The Home Lending Originations Technology group is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager responsible for delivering innovative, large-scale retail mortgage originations capabilities.   This is a hands-on management position responsible for the application development, maintenance, and project delivery for a portfolio of applications.  The manager will be responsible for guiding several agile teams to focus on improving the customer experience, making the applications and services supported more configurable, resilient, and scalable, accelerating, and improving the quality of the teams’ development efforts and developing the skills and practices of each engineer to contribute to a high-performing Agile team and the innovative, customer-focused solutions it delivers.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of individual contributor engineer roles with low to moderate complexity and less experienced managers who are responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technologies
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Product and Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Engage with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture to enable application migration paths to target-state architectures; for example, cloud readiness, application modernization and data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to make decisions and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement culture
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with low to moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate and consult with the Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices.
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering including career development and performance management for engineers and managers on the team
  • Hire, mentor, and guide talent development of direct reports to build the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for the supported product areas/products.


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience
  • 4+ years of strong design experience in Design Patterns, Domain Driven Design, and event-based integration.
  • 4+ years of experience in Java API. Microservices, Containers, Databases (Oracle, Mongo), and Kafka/MQ
  • 4+ years of CICD tools (GitHub, TFS, Jenkins, Maven or Gradle, uDeploy) experience
  • 2+ years of Cloud experience
  • 2+ years of Agile Methodology


Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience in managing and delivering agile/scrum products in technically, complex environments
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience including hiring and talent development practices
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams of engineers designing, programming, and deploying solutions for Java, .NET and Cloud environments
  • Well verse in developing applications leveraging Microsoft .NET Full Stack, Web Services, Design Patterns & Cloud Platform enablement with engineering focus.
  • Testing - Unit, SIT and support for UAT testing. Test Automation using Selenium, JUnit, NUnit
  • Experience driving the adoption and effective use of AI code generation and agentic code development tools.
  • Experience providing effort estimates, identify resource needs, and enforces project and delivery standards
  • Demonstrated experience in leading strategy roadmap in a large technically complex environment
  • Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholder relationships across multiple business units or technical domains
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse, geographically distributed team
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work /under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Strong demonstrated people development skills to hire, coach, develop, and mentor team members.
  • Proven expertise on building a culture of continuous improvement within team and put together metrics to measure the impact of their efforts
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with virtual team members.
  • Banking or Financial Services experience

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$119,000.00 - $206,000.00
