Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a motivated Software Engineer to support the development, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical applications supporting a national user community. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with a passion for building secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud, containerization, and DevSecOps technologies while contributing directly to capabilities that support critical national security missions.

Responsibilities:
  • The Software Engineer will support the design, development, deployment, and sustainment of web-based applications that power mission-critical capabilities supporting a large national user community.
  • Work within a collaborative Agile Scrum environment, the successful candidate will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, application design, coding, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing system enhancement.
  • This position will work closely with senior developers, system administrators, analysts, and end users to develop secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions while ensuring adherence to secure coding standards and best practices.
  • This person will assist in maintaining and enhancing existing applications, deploying new secure systems and services, troubleshooting software defects, conducting data processing and analysis activities, and preparing technical reports and briefings.


Qualifications

Desired:
  • Candidates should possess experience developing modern applications using technologies such as React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, C++, Golang, Python, and Bash.
  • Experience with microservice architectures, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SQL and NoSQL databases, Linux operating systems, and containerized environments utilizing Docker and Kubernetes is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and security practices across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments, along with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD, and Argo Workflows, is preferred.
  • Additional experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana and Jaeger is beneficial.
  • The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality solutions in support of mission objectives.

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years Software Engineering experience. Additional training and years of experience can be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Preferred local to the Dayton, Ohio area and work may be remote or in office.

Location:
  • Candidate can work remotely but most be local to Dayton, Ohio.


Compensation:
  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $100,000-$150,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
