Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced software engineer, with a focus on supporting science and engineering R&D, to join our team. The person who fills this role will apply software engineering principles and practices to designing and developing flexible data pipelines, user interfaces, and software utilities for use within brain-computer interface research and applications to enable real-world impact on patients with severe disabilities. They will need to have experience with building robust systems and tools from scratch, spanning various programming languages and domains.
Key Responsibilities- Develop data pipelines to handle ingestion and export of a variety of datasets to support collaborative research efforts
- Create frameworks for acquisition and processing of real-time data streams a variety of digital sensors, including microphones and cameras
- Support the design and development of user interfaces for brain-computer interface applications, co-designed with potential end users of the company's products
- Integrate custom software applications with various operating system APIs and features, including accessibility features
- Work collaboratively within a small team to develop software and R&D workflows and integrate contributed code into larger code bases
- Maintain versioned, clear, and highly documented design documents, code, and testing results for maximum interpretability and reproducibility
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, or other relevant field
- A minimum of 1 year of academic or industry software engineering experience contributing to R&D efforts
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with at least one low-level language, such as C, C++, or Rust
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively on cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams
- Experience having technical ownership over at least one successfully implemented collaborative project
Preferred Qualifications- Experience contributing to brain-computer interface applications
- Experience creating pipelines for time-series data streams
- Experience designing user interfaces to support R&D efforts
