PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and available applications using Ruby on Rails, Java, or Clojure. Work with product management to design or simplify Vault APls. Write clean, functional code for the front-end and back-end features. Design, develop and maintain client-side and server-side software components including Web, REST APls, GraphQL API, real-time job processing systems and batches. Prototype ideas quickly using cutting edge technologies. Participate in Agile development processes, including SCRUM, and focus on test-driven development and automation. Refactor existing codebases, understanding when to refactor or rewrite. Utilize industry-standard software development tools (IDE/ Version Control/ Continuous Integration). Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. 2 years of experience with backend web services, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.

2. 2 years of backend development experience in Java or JVM environments.

3. 2 years of experience using Git or other version control systems.

4. 1 year of experience with databases and data modeling across SQL and NoSQL.

5. 1 year of experience with web frameworks or equivalent, including OAuth and JSON.

6. 1 year of experience building and integrating cloud-based services on AWS, including object storage with S3 and functions using Lambda.

7. 1 year of experience with functional programming concepts or functional languages, and applying functional patterns in production systems.

8. 1 year of experience in deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

9. 1 year of experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

San Jose, California | Salary: $169,576.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
