PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Job Duties: Design, develop, and deploy software applications with a customer mindset. Build and implement software solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles. Own end-to-end quality deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle. Work with core platforms and infrastructure teams to satisfy the infrastructure needs for payments solutions. Ensure that the design and implementation adhere to defined specs and processes. Refactor existing code base and understand existing implementations to decide whether to refactor or rewrite. Collaborate between business, product, and technology in the process of understanding the requirements and coming up with implementation optoions. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation or Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience developing large-scale backend applications using Java, C#, or other object-oriented programming languages, with strong hands-on expertise in database technologies (1 year)
2. Experience designing and implementing secure, high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs (1 year)
3. Experience architecting and building data-intensive applications optimized for scalability, availability, and fault tolerance (1 year)
4. Experience developing high-traffic microservices and deploying them in AWS or Azure cloud environments (1 year)
5. Strong understanding and application of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms (1 year)
6. Experience debugging complex production issues, performing root cause analysis, and delivering long-term solutions (1 year)
7. Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automation practices to ensure high-quality code delivery (1 year)
8. Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and refactor systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and cloud performance (1 year)
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $149,365.00-198,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
