Top 3 Must-Have Filters

(Vendors should hard-filter on these before submission profiles failing any of these

should not be submitted)

1. Production Swift + macOS/Xcode experience not incidental exposure;

candidate must show real, hands-on depth.

2. Willingness and demonstrated experience maintaining/refactoring existing

code or test frameworks (vs. only wanting to build from scratch) this is the

client's core need.

requiring heavy prompting (assessed live during vendor screening call)

Pre-Screening Questionnaire

Refined Screening Questions

A. Swift / macOS Depth

1. How many years of production Swift experience do you have? Describe a specific

project what was your role, and how did you apply OOP/design patterns?

2. Have you used Xcode or Instruments for debugging/profiling on macOS? Give a

concrete example.

3. Is your primary background web development, or hardware/systems/native app

development? Please clarify.

B. Maintenance vs. Greenfield (Critical Filter)

4. This role is prima rily about maintaining and refactoring an existing test

framework and reducing technical debt not building new systems from

scratch. How do you feel about that?

5. Describe a time you inherited someone else's codebase and had to debug,

refactor, or extend it. What was challenging about it?

C. Communication (Assessed Live)

6. Walk me through, in detail, a technical problem you debugged end-to-end from

symptom to root cause to fix.

o Vendor note: Flag if candidate elaborates naturally vs. requires repeated

prompting for detail.

7. Describe a time you explained a technical issue to a cross-functional or non-

technical stakeholder.

D. AI/LLM Debugging & Hardware Lab

8. Have you used AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude) for log analysis or debugging? Give a

specific example.

9. Are you comfortable working daily in a hardware lab test racks, harnesses,

bench equipment? Describe your experience level.

E. Command Line / Troubleshooting

10. Describe a software-hardware interaction issue you troubleshot how did you

isolate whether the root cause was hardware or software?

11. What command-line/scripting tasks do you regularly perform (e.g., process

inspection, toolchain automation)?

F. Preferred / Nice-to-Have

12. Any experience with computer architecture or power management concepts?

13. Have you built a test framework from scratch, or done data analysis with

pandas/matplotlib?

Instruction to vendors: Please submit actual candidate responses (not yes/no) for

Sections A and B these are hard filters per client feedback. Also include a one-line

communication observation (e.g., "elaborated readily" vs. "required prompting") based
