Software Engineer, Documentation Platform

Location: Exton, PA (Hybrid, 3 times a week, in-office)

Position Summary:

Bentley's documentation platform, docs.bentley.com, helps engineers and infrastructure professionals around the world learn, discover, and get value from Bentley software. We're building a modern platform that combines web technologies, automation, search, and AI-assisted experiences to help users find answers faster and be more productive.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to help own and evolve this platform. This hands-on role is ideal for a versatile engineer who enjoys working across web development, platform engineering, automation and DevOps. You'll build and maintain customer-facing experiences, integrate cloud-hosted services and APIs, automate delivery pipelines and partner with teams across Bentley to improve how technical content is created, published and consumed.

Responsibilities:
  • Help drive the technical roadmap for Bentley's documentation platform.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance a production web platform using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Python.
  • Develop frontend integrations and interactive user experiences.
  • Integrate cloud-hosted services and REST APIs supporting search, discovery, and AI-powered experiences.
  • Debug issues that span frontend applications, APIs, backend services, and infrastructure.
  • Own and improve Azure DevOps pipelines used to build, validate, and publish documentation.
  • Create and maintain automation using Python, PowerShell, and related tooling.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, observability, and release processes.
  • Partner with product and platform teams to integrate documentation into build and release workflows.
  • Provide tooling, guidance, and technical expertise to help teams publish documentation consistently and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with documentation leadership, Release Services, and infrastructure teams to evolve the platform and its capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in software development.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS in production web applications.
  • Experience with backend development or automation using Python.
  • Comfortable working across frontend, backend, and automation codebases.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell experience preferred).
  • Practical understanding of build, deploy, and release workflows.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs into web applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted services and APIs; AWS experience is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues that span applications, APIs, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with Git or other distributed version control systems.
  • This role does not require travel.
  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
