JOB TITLE: Software Engineer -DO-178/DO-330 Tool Qualification

ABOUT THE JOB: The DO-330 Tool Qualification Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, verifying, and documenting the qualification of software development and verification tools used on safety-critical airborne software programs. Working closely with software development, verification, quality assurance, and certification teams, this role ensures software tools satisfy the qualification objectives defined in DO-330 and support certification of airborne systems developed in accordance with DO-178C.

The ideal candidate possesses strong software verification and certification experience, understands the avionics software development lifecycle, and is familiar with FAA/EASA certification processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop Tool Qualification Plans (TQP), Tool Operational Requirements (TOR), Tool Verification Plans (TVP), Tool Accomplishment Summaries (TAS), and other certification artifacts.
  • Determine software tool qualification requirements and Tool Qualification Levels (TQL) in accordance with DO-330.
  • Develop and execute tool qualification test procedures and document verification results.
  • Coordinate with software developers, verification engineers, and certification specialists to support tool qualification activities.
  • Maintain bidirectional traceability between tool requirements, verification procedures, test results, and certification evidence.
  • Support FAA, EASA, and customer certification audits and technical reviews.
  • Develop qualification data packages for certification authorities.
  • Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and certification readiness reviews.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience developing or verifying safety-critical embedded software.
  • Experience supporting DO-178B or DO-178C airborne software certification.
  • Working knowledge of DO-330 Software Tool Qualification Considerations.
  • Experience developing software verification procedures and executing verification testing.
  • Familiarity with software requirements management and traceability processes.
  • Experience in preparing certification documentation and technical reports.
  • Experience with configuration management practices and software baselines.

  • Experience supporting DAL A or DAL B airborne software programs.
  • Familiarity with automated verification environments.
