Overview

LMI is seeking a skilledSoftware Engineerto join our team and contribute to developing innovative software solutions that support AI/ML activities for the Armys AI2C organization. This is a hybrid position based in Pittsburgh, PA, with an expectation of regular on-site collaboration. This role will support the full software development lifecycle, with responsibilities spanningfull-stack application development and DevSecOps practices.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing and developing modern web applications using technologies such as Python and React, building and integrating APIs and data services, and deploying applications through secure, automated CI/CD pipelines. This role requires an engineer who can work across the application stack while helping the team improve how software is built, tested, secured, deployed, and maintained.

This position offers an opportunity to provide technical leadership while strategically growing LMIs software development footprint with the customer. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible environment and be self-directed, collaborative, and eager to grow technically.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack software applications supporting Army AI/ML and analytics initiatives.
  • Develop and maintainfront-end applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS, creating responsive and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Developback-end applications, APIs, services, and business logic using Pythonand frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
  • Design and implement integrations between front-end applications, back-end services, databases, APIs, and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Translate UI/UX designs, including Figma designs, into reusable application components and intuitive user experiences.
  • Work with relational databases and application data models, including designing queries, schemas, and application-level data access.
  • Write efficient, reusable, testable, and maintainable code and participate in peer code reviews and architecture discussions.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate application builds, testing, security checks, and deployments.
  • Containerize applications using Docker and support application deployment and orchestration using Kubernetes or similar platforms.
  • Incorporate DevSecOps and secure software development practices throughout the development lifecycle, including code scanning, dependency management, vulnerability remediation, and automated security testing.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot applications across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, designers, cybersecurity professionals, and other technical stakeholders using Git-based workflows and Agile development methodologies.
  • Lead technical discussions and provide guidance on application architecture, technology selection, software design patterns, deployment approaches, and development best practices.
  • Engage with Army managers and representatives in a consultative capacity to identify software needs, explore innovative solutions, and build strategic relationships that expand LMIs development footprint.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to grow the teams software engineering capabilities across full-stack development and DevSecOps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application architecture, developer experience, automation, security, and software delivery processes.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in full-stack development, including experience supporting the deployment and operation of software applications.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Python development within Django or Flask web frameworks.
  • Experience working with relational databases, SQL, data models, and database-backed applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, analyzing, designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software applications for an enterprise-level system.
  • Familiarity with Git, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automated deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles, technical mentorship, or client relationship management
  • Experience withcontainerized application development and deployment, including Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes or similar orchestration technologies.
  • Understanding ofDevSecOps and secure software development practices, including incorporating security and automated testing into the software development lifecycle.
  • Active Secret Clearance required

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Storybook for component development, documentation, and design system management
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration for application deployment
  • Hands-on deployment experience across multiple environments and platforms
  • Experience integrating machine learning and analytical tools
  • Background working in strategic planning or consultant environments supporting government or DoD clients
  • Proven track record of expanding technical scope or footprint with government customers
  • Experience designing microservices, service-oriented architectures, or distributed applications.
  • Knowledge of the Army software development process and its technologies.
  • 7+ years of directly related experience.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Target Salary Range: $140,000 - 170,000.

Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
