PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in Austin, TX
Job Duties: Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs using test-driven development and agile methodologies. Optimize the performance settings and threading model for complex software service stacks and complex fault tolerance and recovery scenarios. Build fast and scalable applications, interactive and dynamic web pages, and enhanced Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to extract data from multiple sources. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Maintain and release processes for Mobile API components, library updates, and security practices. Design and code solutions that meet the documented business and technical requirements. Evaluate production systems to swiftly identify and proactively mitigate technical issues during product development. Design responsive, accessible, and mobile-friendly user interfaces. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Developing and maintaining backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture to ensure efficiency and scalability (2 years).
2. Designing and building REST APIs for seamless integration and robust performance (2 years).
3. Creating and enhancing frontend applications using JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, HTML, and CSS, delivering engaging user interfaces (2 years).
4. Leveraging AWS to design and implement cloud-based solutions for scalable and reliable applications (2 years).
5. Building and automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, combined with managing dependencies through Maven, to streamline deployments (2 years).
6. Containerizing applications and managing their deployments using Docker for optimal resource utilization (2 years).
7. Administering and querying databases, including NoSQL systems and IBM DB2, to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval (2 years).
8. Writing clean, modular code and refactoring applications using principles from Object-Oriented Design and Functional Programming to enhance quality and maintainability (2 years).
9. Designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available (2 years).
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Austin, TX | Salary: $163,550.00-221,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
