PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, develop, and optimize core systems that power millions of transactions daily, directly impacting customers' experiences and the company's success. Define the technical roadmap and drive innovation. Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to deliver impactful solutions. Analyze requirements and transform them into scalable software designs. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative software products and solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Serve as a subject matter expert for best practices with code craftsmanship, coding standards, and the use of tools that will improve the quality of the delivered code. Define and execute the backend technology strategy. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Design and architect scalable backend systems with a focus on cloud-native solutions, microservices, and serverless architecture. Partial telecommuting permitted from a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience leading the team and architecting of scalable backend systems with a focus on cloud-native solutions, microservice, and serverless architectures (5 years)
2. Expertise architecting and developing large-scale backend systems using Python (5 years)
3. Django or Flask (5 years)
4. Experience leading cross-functional teams, driving technical roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with business objectives (5 years)
5. Experience designing and implementing fault-tolerant systems with a focus on high-availability and disaster recovery (5 years)
6. Experience with advanced security practices, including secure coding, encryption, and access control (5 years)
7. Experience designing and deploying scalable, high-availability systems using AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, and Load Balancers (4 years)
8. IaC (infrastructure as code) and security automation using AWS CloudFormation/CDK/Terraform, implementing IAM best practices, VPC networking, encryption, and compliance with AWS Well-Architected Framework (4 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $187,741.00-270,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
