As a Software Development Manager (SDM), you will lead a team of brilliant engineers focusing cloud-native networking features like security, authentication, authorization, load balancing, throttling, routing, and more. Your products will continuously improve KPIs (availability, efficiency, productivity) on behalf of service owners by managing SOA concerns, providing automation, tooling, and higher-level abstractions. You will use ML and GenAI technologies to improve performance, load management, and operations across a portfolio of networking products.
As the leader of this space, you will hire, develop, and retain deep technical team members. You will own defining the long- term vision, driving long and short- term product strategy, working with internal Amazon customers as well as partnering with stakeholders. You will be responsible for setting the team culture, best practices, and planning. You will ensure the timely delivery of new product and feature launches. You will get to work in a deeply technical space with experts in solving cutting-edge problems, unique to the size and scope of Amazon

About the team
Edge Link enables managed internet ingress for Amazon retail and non-retail customers. Our team owns the critical infrastructure layer between the public internet and Amazon's services-managing Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), orchestrating CDN failovers for uninterrupted content delivery, and defending against DDoS and volumetric attacks for service availability. We build technologies for traffic categorization at scale, enabling intelligent traffic shaping and prioritization across Amazon's edge. We implement and manage protections at the edge, while standardizing security and availability controls to enforce consistent postures across all internet-facing infrastructure. Our mission is to ensure that every customer interaction-from first connection to content delivery-is fast, secure, and resilient, empowering Amazon to deliver exceptional value to customers worldwide.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
