About the role of Software Development Engineer II

At Premera, we work hard to improve our customer's lives by making health care work better. As part of the Corporate Services and Digital Automation Engineering team, you will help transform how Premera delivers healthcare operations by building innovative workflow automation solutions that improve employee productivity, enhance customer experiences, and streamline complex business processes.

As a Software Development Engineer II - Appian Developer, you will be creating solutions for Premera's business process automation needs. You will fit well into this role if you have experience with Appian and similar platforms.

What you'll do:
  • Work with the product and business teams to build business process automation solutions for Premera on platforms like Appian and Microsoft Power Platforms.
  • Work with a system improvement mindset. Provide technical advice to the team as and when needed.
  • Produce appropriate documentation to support evidence of completion of enhancement and production support activities.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to build new skillset; have a learning mindset.


What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems. (Required)
  • One (1) year of software development experience, knowledge of software development lifecycle, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages. (Required)
  • Exposure to cloud solutions. (Preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare industry or a highly regulated environment. (Preferred)
  • Technical knowledge and experience with specific technical tools used at Premera (i.e. Facets) or required for open position. (Preferred)
  • Experience working in Appian
  • Previous experience in an Agile environment. (Preferred)
  • Exposure to API and service-based technologies. (Preferred)
  • Experience using and creating automated test tools. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to solve business problems.
  • Proficient application of systems coding and development tools, techniques, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment demonstrating ability to collaboratively solve business problems.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Plus Salary Range:
$92,400.00 - $157,100.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
