Job Title

Software Development Engineer for Implementations

About Your Role

Fiserv is a global leader in financial services technology, and our EBRS Products organization is at the forefront of digital payment innovation. We are looking for an Implementation & Automation Software Engineer to spearhead the next generation of client onboarding for our SnapPay and BillMatrix platforms. In this role, you will bridge software engineering, API integrations, and AI-driven automation to accelerate client deployments. You will design and deploy intelligent workflows, automated test pipelines, and integration tools that connect client ERPs (SAP, Oracle) and payment gateways to Fiserv’s core processing engines—drastically reducing manual implementation time.

What You’ll Do

  • Automation & AI Tooling: Design, build, and deploy automated tooling and AI-assisted workflows (using Python/LLM APIs or Node.js) to streamline client onboarding, data transformation, and implementation verification.
  • Integration Engineering: Partner with client IT, payment gateway, and ERP teams to architect and validate REST/SOAP API connections, webhooks, and secure transaction flows for SnapPay and BillMatrix.
  • Pipeline & Process Engineering: Build end-to-end automation test suites and CI/CD validation pipelines to test merchant configurations, state management, and asynchronous transaction flows prior to production go-live.
  • Codebase & System Maintenance: Maintain implementation tooling repositories, conduct peer code reviews, and optimize backend scripts for reliability and performance.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoot complex integration failures, API mismatches, and data payload anomalies during client implementations, conducting root-cause analysis.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience You’ll Need to Have

  • Core Engineering Background: 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with a strong foundation in building integration tools, automation frameworks, or backend microservices.
  • Primary Programming Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Python or Java for backend script development, automation, and API consumption. (Familiarity with Node.js/TypeScript for full-stack automation is required).
  • Automation & Asynchronous Workflows: 3+ years of experience engineering automated workflows, handling state management, multi-threading, and asynchronous event processing.
  • Database & SQL Proficiency: 3+ years of experience writing, optimizing, and debugging SQL queries across relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle).
  • Cloud & CI/CD Ecosystems: Practical experience building and deploying tools in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) utilizing Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience That Would Be Great to Have

  • Applied AI/LLM Engineering: Experience integrating Generative AI services (OpenAI APIs, Claude, LangChain, or custom prompt pipelines) to automate document parsing, code generation, or data mapping.
  • Payments & B2B Domain Knowledge: Understanding of payment lifecycles (authorization, settlement, tokenization, PCI-DSS compliance, and gateway messaging).
  • ERP & Enterprise Systems: Exposure to enterprise systems or ERP data structures (SAP ECC/S4HANA, Oracle EBS, JD Edwards).
  • Advanced Scripting: Strong Linux/Unix shell scripting skills for system-level task automation.

How you’ll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

Benefits at Fiserv:

  • Fuel Your Life program to support your physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being
  • Paid holidays and generous time away policies
  • No-cost mental health support through Employee Assistance Programs
  • Living Proof program to recognize your peers’ extra effort with points redeemable for rewards
  • Eight Employee Resource Groups to foster a collaborative culture and expand your network
  • ·Unparalleled professional growth with training, development, and internal mobility opportunities
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options available from day one
  • Retirement planning and discounted shares with the Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Tuition assistance and reimbursement program
  • Paid parental, caregiver, and military leave
