You'll help shape integrated campaigns from the outset, translating marketing priorities into channel-native social strategies and making the strategic decisions that determine how ideas come to life across social.

This role requires equal parts strategic thinking, online understanding, creative instinct, relationship building, and operational excellence. You must love balancing long-term planning with the agility required to jump on real-time opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end social strategy across high-impact global brand campaigns, strategic partnerships, flagship programs, and cultural moments, from development and launch through post-campaign learning.
  • Translate integrated marketing strategies into social-first approaches that feel native to each platform while supporting broader marketing and business objectives.
  • Lead multiple complex social workstreams from brief through execution, creating clarity around timelines, deliverables, approvals, dependencies, and decisions across internal teams and agency partners.
  • Shape social briefs and collaborate with internal creative teams and external agencies throughout creative development, providing actionable feedback and ensuring final work is strategically sound, social-first, and meets Spotify's quality bar.
  • Partner across Brand, Creative, Comms, Marketing, Partner Marketing, Paid Media, and external agencies to develop integrated campaigns, co-marketing activations, and cultural partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities for Spotify to authentically participate in culture and develop proactive editorial programming that keeps Spotify relevant between major marketing moments.
  • Lead social content-capture strategy for live events and experiential activations, identifying real-time storytelling opportunities and partnering with creators, talent, and production teams on social-first content.
  • Partner with Legal and Communications to navigate approvals and sensitive issues so brand storytelling can be both timely and responsible.
  • Stay close to platform evolution, creator trends, internet culture, and emerging audience behaviors, identifying opportunities for Spotify to innovate.
  • Develop frameworks, playbooks, and best practices that strengthen the quality and consistency of social strategy across Brand Social.
  • Define success metrics with analytics partners, evaluate campaign and always-on performance, and turn learnings into stronger future strategies.
  • Champion social internally, helping partners understand platform behavior, audience expectations, social best practices, and the role social plays throughout an integrated marketing campaign.
  • Present strategic concepts, go-to-market plans, recommendations, and campaign results to stakeholders, including senior leaders and external partners.

Who You Are

  • You have 7+ years of experience in owned and earned social media strategy, social marketing, or a related strategic role for global consumer, entertainment, technology, or media brands.
  • You have led social strategy for integrated marketing campaigns with multiple internal and external stakeholders, balancing business objectives with platform-native creativity.
  • You can turn strategy into an executable plan and drive complex, cross-functional work from ambiguity through delivery.
  • You understand how social contributes throughout the marketing funnel and how campaigns can evolve beyond launch into ongoing audience participation.
  • You have strong editorial instincts and can balance long-term strategic planning with thoughtful real-time decision-making.
  • You understand internet culture and can distinguish between fleeting trends and meaningful cultural opportunities that make sense for a brand.
  • You understand the audiences, formats, and behaviors across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, Threads, YouTube, WhatsApp, and emerging social channels.
  • You build effective relationships and can influence partners across marketing, creative, legal, communications, agencies, and senior leadership.
  • You have experience guiding agency partners through briefing, creative development, production, and execution while maintaining a high creative bar.
  • You are comfortable using social analytics to establish KPIs, interpret performance, and inform strategic decisions.
  • You can communicate strategic recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders and help large, cross-functional groups move toward shared goals.
  • You can move between long-term planning and same-day opportunities while maintaining sound judgment and quality.
  • You care about creating brand social that contributes meaningfully to culture rather than simply interrupting it.

Where You'll Be

  • This role can be based in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY

About Spotify

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, launched in October 2008. The platform is owned by Spotify AB, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange since April 2018. Spotify's primary business is providing an audio streaming platform, with the company claiming that it had 345 million active monthly users and 155 million paying subscribers as of December 2020. Unlike physical or download sales, which pay artists a fixed price per song or album sold, Spotify pays royalties based on the number of artist streams as a proportion of total songs streamed on the service. Spotify distributes approximately 70% of its total revenue to rights holders, who then pay artists based on their individual agreements. Spotify has faced criticism from artists and producers including Taylor Swift and Thom Yorke, who have argued that it does not fairly compensate musicians.
