Job Summary:The primary role for the Shock/Vibration Engineer is to ensures products survive harsh physical environments during shipping, handling, and operational lifecycles through advanced simulation and physical testing. Validates structural integrity, isolates vibration, and mitigates fatigue risks for mechanical structures, assemblies, and electronic packaging, and design validation.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Perform FEA simulations and structural modeling to evaluate product response to shock, vibration, and mechanical loads, identify structural weaknesses, and predict potential failure areas before physical testing.
- Plan and execute shock, vibration, and mechanical stress testing using appropriate laboratory equipment and instrumentation to validate product durability, structural integrity, and performance under defined operating and transportation conditions.
- Analyze simulation and test results to identify structural improvement opportunities and collaborate with design and mechanical engineering teams to develop, implement, and validate engineering countermeasures for identified issues.
- Develop shock and vibration test profiles based on product requirements, expected operating environments, and applicable industry standards to ensure testing accurately represents real-world conditions and compliance requirements.
- Analyze test failures and structural issues, perform root-cause investigations, and prepare technical reports documenting test methods, results, findings, corrective actions, and engineering recommendations.
- Maintain and coordinate calibration of shock and vibration test equipment, sensors, and measurement instruments to ensure equipment reliability, measurement accuracy, and readiness for engineering testing.
Education:- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Applied Mechanics or Physics
Experience:- 2-3 years of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) & Dynamic Simulation Experience
- 2+ years of Hands-on Electrodynamic Shaker & Lab Testing Experience
- 1+ years of Test Fixture Design & Structural Optimization
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:Frequently works in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, requiring computer use, technical document review, product inspection, and regular movement between work areas. The role may involve occasional handling of test equipment or product samples and exposure to operating equipment, elevated noise levels, and other laboratory or production conditions; appropriate PPE may be required.
