The Senior Vehicle Integration Technician is responsible for installing, integrating, testing, validating, and troubleshooting complex electronic systems in prototype and production-intent vehicles, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems, and laboratory test racks.

This role requires strong automotive electrical and electronics expertise, hands-on vehicle integration experience, and the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues while collaborating effectively with engineering and technical teams.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
Installation and System Integration
• Install, integrate, and configure electronic hardware and systems in vehicles and test environments, including:
o Prototype vehicle systems
o Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems and test racks
o Telematics systems
o Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)
o Infotainment systems
o Electric vehicle charging systems
o High-voltage battery systems
o Aftermarket components and accessories
• Fabricate, modify, and install wiring harnesses, connectors, modules, sensors, and related components.
• Verify that wiring, connections, mounting, and system configurations meet engineering requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable industry standards.
• Work closely with engineering teams to support system bring-up, vehicle builds, upgrades, and hardware modifications.

Testing and Validation
• Perform functional, performance, and safety testing of integrated systems.
• Use diagnostic tools, test equipment, and engineering software to verify system operation and identify technical issues.
• Support validation activities by executing test procedures and collecting accurate data.
• Document installation details, system configurations, test procedures, findings, and results.
• Communicate issues clearly and provide recommendations for corrective action.

Troubleshooting and Repair
• Diagnose complex electrical and electronic system malfunctions, communication faults, and hardware failures.
• Apply structured troubleshooting methods to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Repair, replace, or modify wiring, connectors, modules, and related components as needed.
• Verify repairs and modifications through appropriate testing and validation.
• Escalate design-related issues and collaborate with engineers to develop long-term solutions.

Technical Leadership
• Apply advanced knowledge of automotive electronics, circuit analysis, power electronics, vehicle communication networks, and digital systems.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, pinout tables, and technical documentation.
• Maintain awareness of emerging vehicle integration technologies, tools, standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance, share knowledge, and mentor less-experienced team members.
• Promote safe, organized, and high-quality work practices.

Qualifications

You'll have...
• Five or more years of experience in automotive electrical/electronic integration, vehicle development, testing, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience installing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting complex vehicle electronic systems.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, electronic components, wiring, grounding, power distribution, and communication networks.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment, such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and vehicle network diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail, workmanship, documentation, and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage assignments independently and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
• Ability to follow established safety procedures when working with high-voltage and prototype vehicle systems.

• Associate degree, technical diploma, or professional certification in electronics technology, automotive technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience with telematics, ADAS, infotainment, HIL testing, electric vehicle charging, or high-voltage battery systems.
• Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Automotive Ethernet.
• High-voltage vehicle safety training or certification.
• Familiarity with relevant automotive standards and regulations, including SAE and ISO standards.
• Experience working in prototype vehicle, product development, engineering laboratory, or validation environments.
• Experience coordinating technical projects, vehicle builds, or integration activities.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-development skills.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $109,000-$159,400

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
