In this position...
The Body Interior Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of Body Interior Design & Release Engineers, ensuring the efficient and timely development, validation, and release of Body Interior components and systems. This role focuses on optimizing resource allocation and maintaining GPDS integrity for FoM and FNA programs, while adhering to all specific requirements, cost/weight reduction targets, and revenue initiatives. The supervisor ensures robust designs by considering Worldwide Customer Requirements (WCR), Engineering Specifications (ES), System Design Specifications (SDS), Design Rules, Manufacturing/Assembly, and Government Legal standards.

People
  1. Establishes technical performance standards for the D&R aligned with respective upcoming priorities workloads.
  2. Ensures training and mentoring exists for all Function engineers to achieve the right technical standards.
  3. Develops people - leads, guides, teaches, and improves technical knowledge based on Body Interior TMM.
  4. Responsible for the develop and maintenance of succession plans.

Product
  1. Ensures Body Interior FoM and FNA Function led program objectives achieve corporate Best In Ford and Best In Class standards .
  2. Pursues and encourages the effective and efficient use of cross-functional forums to drive critical program decisions.
  3. Ensures Body Interior product designs are feasible for manufacturing and installation; capable of meeting customer requirements supporting systemic, functional and reviews and resolution efforts.
  4. Ensures Studio Feasibility, PDL accuracy, BOM accuracy is achieved within Body Interior commodities.
  5. Ensures support to AIMS, WERS (Concerns/Notices/Alerts) and OTG processes as related to the Function.
  6. Supports Body Interior Technical Design Review (TDR) process.
  7. Supports the Function progress through the design, release and validation processes (sign-off) of Body Interior subsystems/components in time for production tooling release and vehicle launch.
  8. Reviews/approves engineering change notices and alerts.
  9. Supports build/launches and resolution of identified design issues.

a) Ensures that all targets (Cost, Quality, Appearance, Weight, Timing) are managed, tracked and delivered at every GPDS program milestone, leads to appropriate tradeoffs to balance all the different attributes and requirements.

b) Ensures design criteria mechanisms (within its own area of expertise) are in place and followed by its D&Rs in order to support program objectives.

c) Responsible for robust Milestone execution and adherence to Engineering disciplines for programs being developed under its responsibility e.g. Quality Operating System (FMA tools), Design (SDS, design guidelines), Test (procedures), Development mechanisms, GPDS compliance.

Process
  1. Manages headcount to deliver programs accordingly.
  2. Supervises that all their Function engineers have proper working tools (computers, software, and equipment).
  3. Manages Function activities & direct reports information related to Ford systems' (general data, access, CDSID updates, travel expense authorizations, time sheet approvals, etc.).
  4. Ensures the department objectives are assigned to its subordinates and meet the strategic needs of the organization.

Supplier Relationships
  1. Constantly drives support to have the best functional suppliers and ensures their departmental and organizational selection strategy is adequately voiced/represented by the function requirements.
  2. High impact Body Interior suppliers' visits support to review control plans and development of new programs in accordance with Purchasing, and STA towards Matched Pair Reviews.
  3. Supports approval of Supplier Request for Engineering Authorization documents, communication/approval of supplier SCCAF forms, and approval of supplier control plans/FMEA's.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering field.
5+ years in leading execution of body Interior components and systems during all product development stages.

Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering field.
Thorough knowledge and experience of all GPDS and proven skill of interpreting process deliverables for Body Interior.
Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and strategic vision to diverse audiences, including senior management.
Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team-building abilities.
Ability to communicate and interact and negotiate with cross functional teams.
Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Software and PC usage knowledge (Word, Excel and Power Point).
3D CAD geometry, C3P tools/process and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances proficiency.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
