Job Description:

The Senior Underground Mine Engineer will provide technical and business expertise across all levels of mine studies, projects, and operations through the development, review, and quality assurance of Mineral Reserves, mine plans, growth studies, and other technical work required by the Director, Mine Technical Services. This includes mine scheduling, design, and economic analysis. The role will help ensure that technical work is completed in accordance with established standards and receives appropriate review and verification before results are communicated internally or externally.

Within the Company, the Senior Underground Mine Engineer will build strong relationships with site technical teams and members of the Technical, Projects, and Finance groups within the Corporate Denver office to identify opportunities and optimize value across the portfolio of operations and projects. While the role is primarily focused on underground mining, support for open pit projects may be required.

The Day-to-Day:
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership and promote the integration of safety considerations into mine planning, design, and technical decision-making.
  • Support the development and review of the annual Corporate Mine Technical Services Budget.
  • Develop and support the preparation of long-term strategic and District Master Plan options, including mine physicals, metal production profiles, and financial and economic analyses.
  • Perform independent technical reviews and quality assurance of mine engineering work, plans, studies, and Mineral Reserve inputs to verify accuracy, methodology, and compliance with established standards.
  • Provide technical support and peer review to site teams across mine design, planning, scheduling, and optimization, including integration of geotechnical and hydrogeological considerations.
  • Support Mineral Reserve governance and annual Mineral Reserve reporting through the review of mine planning assumptions, cut-off grades, modifying factors, optimization parameters, designs, schedules, and other technical inputs.
  • Evaluate technical alternatives and optimization opportunities using economic and financial analysis to support value-based decision-making.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and technology to improve mine planning, operational performance, and value.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in the development and review of conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, implementation, trade-off, reclamation, and closure studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mine planning with project development and business objectives.
  • Participate in technical evaluations and M&A due diligence activities as required.
  • Support site technical teams in all aspects of mine engineering as required.

  • Other relevant responsibilities / skills to include: Experience preparing and reviewing Technical Reports and studies from conceptual through feasibility stages; demonstrated ability to apply independent technical judgment, conduct peer reviews, identify risks and opportunities, and drive optimization, continuous improvement, and cost reduction. Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and build effective relationships across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
