OverviewGovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with strong hands‑on experience supporting and maintaining Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) in large enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for day‑to‑day MECM operations, software distribution, patching, OS deployment, and endpoint compliance across a mission‑critical U.S. Coast Guard program.

Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain MECM and all supporting infrastructure, including site servers, distribution points, management points, and related components to ensure reliable and efficient enterprise endpoint management operations.
- Package, test, and deploy software, updates, and patches across enterprise Windows endpoints.
- Create, update, and support task sequences for automated OS deployments, upgrades, and imaging workflows.
- Manage and maintain test environments to validate configurations, applications, updates, and deployment processes.
- Support patch management cycles, including scheduling, deployment, monitoring, reporting, and remediation.
- Ensure endpoint compliance with organizational security policies, STIGs, baselines, and configuration standards.
- Troubleshoot MECM client health issues, software distribution failures, imaging problems, and compliance discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and operational workflows.
Generate and analyze MECM reports related to deployments, compliance, and system health for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
- Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
- MECM Administration: Hands‑on experience managing, maintaining, and supporting MECM in large enterprise environments.
- SQL Administration: Hands‑on experience managing, maintaining, and supporting SQL and SSRS as it pertains to a MECM environment.
- Windows Server Expertise: Strong understanding of Windows Server 2012–2025, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and core enterprise services.
- Imaging & Deployment: Experience with Windows imaging, task sequences, driver management, and OS deployment workflows.
- Virtualization: Proficiency with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper‑V.
- PowerShell Automation: Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Documentation: Skilled in producing clear, accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and operational workflows.
- Test Environment Management: Experience building and maintaining lab/test environments for validation, troubleshooting, and change testing.
- Patch Management: Demonstrated expertise in patch cycles, update deployment, compliance reporting, and remediation.
- Independent Work: Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with Adaptiva OneSite for peer‑to‑peer content distribution, health checks, and endpoint optimization.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management concepts, including co‑management and cloud‑based policy deployment.
- Exposure to Tanium for endpoint visibility, patching, or configuration management in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with DoD/USCG cybersecurity requirements, including STIG, CIS benchmarks, and RMF processes.
- Experience supporting large federal or DoD enterprise environments with complex endpoint management needs.
- Understanding of enterprise networking fundamentals relevant to MECM operations (firewalls, boundaries, DP placement, bandwidth considerations).
- Experience with SCCM/MECM migrations, upgrades, or environment modernization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret deployment, compliance, and health data to drive improvements.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross‑functional teams and presenting technical information to stakeholders.
