Overview

Senior Systems Administrator

 

Arlington, VA

 

Responsibilities
  • Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Perform advanced system capacity planning, performance analysis, and resource management to ensure infrastructure scalability and reliability.
  • Design, deploy, and manage complex virtualized environments utilizing VMware technologies.
  • Serve as the technical lead for system architecture, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, operating system, and application issues across enterprise environments.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems in accordance with organizational requirements and industry best practices.
  • Apply operating system, application, and security patches to maintain compliance, security, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead vulnerability remediation efforts and ensure systems remain compliant with DISA STIGs, DoD cybersecurity requirements, and organizational security policies.
  • Monitor enterprise systems and infrastructure to ensure continuous availability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Develop and implement backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Automate administrative tasks and system management functions using scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce technical standards, policies, procedures, and system documentation.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance across infrastructure-related projects and operational activities.
  • Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, cloud, and application teams to design and implement integrated enterprise solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system performance, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Support after-hours maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
    • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • DOD IAT Level II Certification is required.
  • DOD Top Secret clearance w/ SCI eligibility
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems, demonstrating versatility in managing diverse environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Windows Server, infrastructure management, PowerShell scripting, and Linux administration.
  • Hands-on experience with SCCM, OS management, DNS, SAN, group policy, DHCP, and Microsoft Windows technologies.
  • Expertise in managing and optimizing Citrix environments, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, with a focus on ensuring high performance, scalability, and seamless user experience.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues effectively
