Full Job Description
The role of the Senior Systems Administrator is to serve as the foremost technical authority on the company's IT infrastructure. This position entails direct oversight of all information technology systems, encompassing internal and external systems, databases, user-facing devices like laptops, desktops, and mobile devices, as well as third-party software hosted in the cloud. The position holds the responsibility for guaranteeing compliance with current cybersecurity standards through regular audits, evaluations, and improvements. Work directly with Cyber Security Consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Cyber Security company to support Catalyst security concerns.
  • Evaluate and enhance core IT systems promptly.
  • Collaborate with company leadership on technology-related projects to identify suitable technology requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity of Microsoft Active Directory database both on-premises and in the cloud (Azure or Entra).
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Microsoft InTune, AutoPilot, and Defender to manage all company endpoints, including laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure proper application of company policies to all endpoints.
  • Automate endpoint deployment to achieve maximum efficiency, aiming for minimal manual intervention.
  • Deploy company software to endpoints using InTune software package application management.
  • Manage Hyper-V virtual servers and appliances in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Administer wireless management technologies, including wireless access points, Cradle points, and associated switches via Ubiquity.
  • Oversee backup and data protection for all company data, both on-premises and in the cloud, using Rubrik.
  • Recommend relevant IT policies to the Director. Research current trends
  • Administer endpoint security software for antivirus, such as Sophos or Crowdstrike.
  • Manage Internet-facing web presence, including DNS, MX, and domain name registrations.
  • Administer the email system to ensure safety from phishing and spam, guaranteeing reliable delivery, including administering an anti-spam platform such as Darktrace or ProofPoint.
  • Administer all company firewalls, VOIP phone technologies, Windows Server operating systems, mobile device platforms such as JAMF or InTune, and multi-factor authentication and single sign-on platforms.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to IT Supervisor and IT Technicians.
  • Stay updated on IT industry developments and integrate them into future IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Participate in hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts.
  • Keep informed about professional information technology developments and inform the Director of relevant updates.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in scheduling system tasks.
  • Strategically plan for upcoming changes and communicate effectively with the user community and management.
  • Guarantee compliance of all hardware, software, and network equipment and services with HIPAA and PII data management best practices.
  • Ensure that IT systems and staff operate within budget, time constraints, and Agency specifications.
  • Offer informed advice and guidance to the Director on IT-related matters.
  • Play a pivotal role in the selection and deployment of IT business applications.
  • Maintain system compliance with Agency IT policies, processes, and procedures


Leadership & Team Management:

  • Provide technical coaching and oversight to IT Systems Manager/Supervisor to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.


Required Qualifications:

  • BA Degree in related field and/or
  • 8-10 years' experience as a Systems Administrator.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA/MS Degree in related field.
  • Professional IT Certification in a related field.


Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing, implementing, and evaluating IT systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, encompassing operations, support, procurement, and budgeting.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
  • Strong skills in fostering partnerships, collaboration, team building, and relationship management.
  • Availability to address Cyber Security IT emergencies 24x7, including after-hours maintenance and weekend work.
  • Proficiency in writing PowerShell scripts as necessary.
  • Continuous pursuit of knowledge and awareness of IT industry advancements, integrating them into the Agency's future IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Capable of coordinating and managing staff records, vendor data, and other confidential information.
  • Competent in using general office equipment and occasionally lifting and moving up to 30 lbs.
  • Exhibits discretion, sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and demanding mental workloads.


Shift Type: Hybrid, 3 days in office Full Time, Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day

Working Conditions:

  • Generally pleasant working conditions.
  • Less than 50% of daily assignments involve prolonged physical effort.
  • Travel up to 30%, including a minimum of four visits per year to meet with direct reports on-site at various locations.
