Job Description:

Position Summary

The Senior Technical Training Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, implementing, and continuously improving learning solutions that build employee capability, accelerate performance, and support organizational objectives. This role serves as a strategic training partner to operations, functional leaders, subject matter experts, and learning teams to ensure training programs are effective, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

The Senior Technical Training Specialist applies expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, facilitation, performance consulting, and training program management to develop employees across multiple functions and levels. This role also provides guidance and mentorship to training team members, supports change initiatives, drives continuous improvement, and helps establish training standards and best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify performance gaps and assess learning and development needs.
  • Translate business objectives into learning strategies, training programs, and performance-based solutions.
  • Conduct training needs analyses and recommend appropriate learning interventions or alternative performance improvement solutions.
  • Establish and maintain training standards, processes, and best practices that promote consistency across locations and functions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, blended, and on-the-job training programs that support operational and business objectives.
  • Create engaging learning materials, facilitator guides, participant resources, assessments, job aids, and digital learning assets.
  • Translate complex technical, operational, and business information into clear and effective learning experiences.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve learning content based on learner feedback, business results, and performance metrics.
  • Adapt instructional approaches, pacing, and techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying experience levels.
  • Lead onboarding programs that accelerate employee readiness and create a consistent learner experience.
  • Serve as a trusted learning resource by providing coaching, guidance, and post-training support.
  • Manage training programs from planning through execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Administer training assessments, certifications, qualification programs, and skill validation processes.
  • Maintain accurate training records, learner data, and compliance documentation within Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related tools.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and evaluate outcomes using learner feedback, knowledge assessments, performance data, and business metrics.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to training specialists, facilitators, and subject matter experts.
  • Build strong partnerships across functions to align training initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a role model for professional behavior, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure training programs meet applicable regulatory, quality, safety, and organizational requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to training documentation, qualifications, and compliance programs.
  • Analyze training data and performance trends to identify opportunities for process improvement.


Qualification

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training & Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in training, learning and development, instructional design, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and facilitating training programs for diverse audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and performance-based training practices.
  • Experience conducting training needs analyses and evaluating learning effectiveness.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and common business software applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.


Preferred

  • Experience supporting operational, manufacturing, technical, engineering, or regulated business environments.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies and performance consulting practices.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide or multi-site training initiatives.
  • Experience creating digital learning content, eLearning, virtual instructor-led training, or blended learning solutions.
  • Professional certifications in training and development, instructional design, facilitation, or organizational development (e.g., ATD, CPTD, Langevin, or equivalent).
