Summary

The Wi-Fi Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Wireless network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and deploy wireless networks based on site surveys, capacity planning, and performance requirements.
  • Configuration & Optimization: Configure and optimize wireless network hardware (access points, controllers, etc.) for optimal performance and coverage.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose Wi-Fi network issues, including connectivity problems, interference, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Security: Implement and maintain wireless security protocols (e.g., WPA2/3, 802.1X) to protect network resources.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work with other IT teams, including network, security, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration of Wi-Fi with existing infrastructure.
  • Vendor Management: Work with vendors to evaluate and select Wi-Fi networking hardware and software.
  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest Networking technologies and industry trends.
  • Capacity Planning: Plan for future network capacity needs and make recommendations for upgrades or expansions.


Critical Qualifications

  • Experience with specific wireless networking vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus).


Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
