Title:

Senior Software Engineer

KBR (formerly LinQuest) is the prime contractor on the MSEIT contract. You will join a systems engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force (USSF) satellite communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF. You will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolve and identify risk, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing, and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC). We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art satellite communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, engineer, analyze, and develop software prototypes and/or applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Engage with stakeholders to better define the problem space and vision to determine capabilities and priorities.
  • Participate in the complete software development lifecycle: user story creation, design, development, automated testing, and operational support.
  • Design and develop new features to meet evolving end-user requirements.
  • Work with complex algorithms to deliver optimized solutions for the end user.
  • Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process and tooling recommendations.
  • Mentor team members by sharing innovative ideas and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this position
  • Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or related technical degree
  • 5+ years of software development, including architecture, object-oriented design, coding, and testing, with strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Strong experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with Javascript fameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying web applications using microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing relational database solutions using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes using GitLab/GitHub or equivalent technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies.
  • Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desired:

  • Active Secret or higher clearance
  • Master’s degree in engineering or computer science, or related technical degree
  • Experience with Docker, AWS and / or Azure, and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience building secure software solutions within DoD or Federal environments.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical operational systems.
  • Experience optimizing application performance, scalability, and resiliency.
  • INCOSE certification, such as CSEP or ESEP

Basic Compensation:  $126,900 to $158,600 in El Segundo, CA

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
