Software Engineer - CommerceAbout the RoleAt Adobe's Commerce team, we shape the experience for tens of millions of customers across Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and beyond. We want a full-time Software Engineer passionate about developing the next generation of AI-powered, cloud-native subscription systems. The ideal candidate demonstrates the use of AI tools to speed up work, think creatively, and produce higher-quality software.
The ChallengeCommerce at Adobe scale is complex, spanning diverse products, plans, promotions, purchase methods, and global geographies. We're evolving our systems to be not only highly available and blazingly fast, but also smartly automated. You'll help build and deliver services that include workflows powered by artificial intelligence, automated analysis, and smart decision-making throughout the subscription lifecycle.
If you're enthusiastic about crafting top-notch code, developing robust microservices, and applying AI as a force multiplier in your everyday engineering, this role is for you.
What You Will Do- Build, develop, and ship scalable cloud-based microservices for subscription management and purchasing workflows.
- Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and prototype ideas faster.
- Build and integrate AI-powered automation into subscription workflows - including intelligent provisioning, anomaly detection, and data validation pipelines.
- Participate in all phases of the SDLC build, code review, unit and integration testing, and bug resolution: using AI-assisted tooling where applicable.
- Quickly develop prototypes using AI tools to investigate new concepts, assess industry trends, and confirm ideas before full-scale implementation.
- Engage in data experimentation and analysis across systems, integrating AI/ML-enabled insights to increase reliability, consistency, and user experience.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver end-to-end customer experiences, providing technical mentorship to teammates on both engineering standards and effective AI tool usage.
- Track product metrics and experiment with AI-assisted approaches to drive adoption, optimize performance, and reduce operational overhead.
What You Need to SucceedEducation & Experience
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering high-quality releases on time.
AI & Automation (Key Focus)
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer, Cursor, Claude, or similar in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities or automation into production services or workflows.
- Familiarity with timely engineering and working with LLM APIs as part of engineering workflows.
- Experience applying AI tooling to code review, test generation, debugging, or documentation.
Core Engineering Skills- Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework; solid Object-Oriented build principles.
- Experience building RESTful microservices at scale.
- Strong knowledge of databases and SQL, including data consistency and validation patterns.
- Experience in conducting data experimentation and analysis within a distributed systems setting.
- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure; experience with observability tools like New Relic and Splunk is a strong plus.
Soft Skills & Process- Motivated self-starter who learns and adapts quickly especially as AI tooling evolves.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Why This RoleYou won't simply write code here; you will help shape how AI transforms our team's approach to building, testing, and delivering software at Adobe scale. If you are an engineer who is already exploring AI tools independently and considering how they can improve engineering results, we want to connect with you!
