Job Description:

Shield AI is seeking a Senior Site Infrastructure Engineer to plan, design, document, and support physical IT infrastructure across offices, engineering facilities, labs, manufacturing environments, and data centers.

As part of the Cloud & Infrastructure team within Enterprise Operations, this role will help deliver scalable and reliable site infrastructure, including rack layouts, structured cabling, power and cooling capacity, MDF/IDF design, DCIM, equipment sizing, and infrastructure documentation. You will partner closely with Network, Systems, Cloud, Security, Facilities, Workplace, and external vendors to support new site buildouts, expansions, relocations, and data center deployments.

What you'll do:
  • * Plan and design physical IT infrastructure for offices, labs, manufacturing facilities, and data centers.
    * Lead and support new site buildouts, office expansions and relocations, data center deployments, hardware refreshes, and infrastructure moves.
    * Develop rack layouts, MDF/IDF requirements, equipment placement plans, and infrastructure bills of materials.
    * Create and maintain accurate rack elevations, physical connectivity diagrams, equipment records, cable documentation, and DCIM data across office and data center environments.
    * Support capacity planning across rack space, site and data center power, cooling, cabling, and equipment growth.
    * Administer and improve DCIM/IPAM/CMDB platforms such as Nautobot, NetBox, Device42, or equivalent.
    * Establish and maintain physical infrastructure documentation and labeling standards to ensure environments remain accurately documented throughout their lifecycle.
    * Review floor plans, low-voltage drawings, vendor designs, proposals, and statements of work.
    * Coordinate with architects, contractors, colocation providers, carriers, OEMs, and field-service vendors.
    * Partner with Network, Systems, and Cloud Engineering teams to ensure site and data center infrastructure supports compute, storage, connectivity, wireless, security, hybrid connectivity, and public cloud requirements.
    * Identify capacity constraints, documentation gaps, and opportunities to improve infrastructure standards and processes.
    * Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support teams as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • * 5+ years of experience in data center, enterprise site, or physical IT infrastructure engineering.
    * Experience designing and supporting infrastructure across offices, data centers, labs, or similar enterprise environments.
    * Strong experience creating and maintaining rack elevations, physical infrastructure diagrams, cabling documentation, equipment layouts, and infrastructure records.
    * Strong knowledge of rack design, structured copper/fiber cabling, equipment placement, and physical infrastructure standards.
    * Strong working knowledge of data center and site power, including A/B power, UPS/PDU systems, circuit capacity, equipment power draw, redundancy, and related cooling/airflow considerations.
    * Experience designing MDF/IDF environments and sizing infrastructure for new or expanding facilities.
    * Experience with DCIM/IPAM/CMDB platforms such as Nautobot, NetBox, Device42, Sunbird, or similar.
    * Working understanding of enterprise networking, including switching, wireless, WAN connectivity, and carrier services.
    * Ability to interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, low-voltage designs, and equipment specifications.
    * Experience working with colocation providers, low-voltage contractors, carriers, and technology vendors.
    * Strong technical documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
    * Ability to independently execute infrastructure projects from planning through deployment.
    * Ability to travel periodically for site and data center deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • * Experience supporting a geographically distributed or rapidly growing enterprise.
    * Experience across offices, engineering labs, manufacturing environments, and colocation data centers.
    * Hands-on experience with Nautobot or NetBox for DCIM, IPAM, rack elevations, circuits, and infrastructure documentation.
    * Experience supporting data center migrations, expansions, or greenfield site deployments.
    * Familiarity with hybrid infrastructure and public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including connectivity between enterprise sites, data centers, and cloud environments.
    * Familiarity with infrastructure from vendors such as Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Dell, APC, or Vertiv.
    * Experience developing infrastructure BOMs, cost estimates, lifecycle plans, and capacity forecasts.
    * Experience using APIs, scripting, or automation to improve DCIM and infrastructure lifecycle management.
