Job Description:

Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Senior Signalling Commissioning Engineer responsible for defining and performing assigned signalling tests (e.g. interlocking, ATS, on-board) for an overall Test and Commissioning plan for a complex (in terms of equipment and/or subsystems and/or interfaces) Signalling project or turnkey project (multi-disciplinary project).

This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.

Accountabilities  

Specific duties include:

(1) ensuring the definition, organization and execution of the test commissioning activities relevant to a project in alignment with the Commissioning strategy and the commissioning project activities schedule;

(2) ensuring the definition and formulation of Signalling Test procedures;

(3) ensuring that the delivered test and commissioning documents are available in the required format as per company guidelines and instructions;

(4) ensuring the on time issue of the tests reports of the performed tests;

(5) supporting site survey aimed to the definition of the signalling design;

(6) ensuring the execution of the Verification activities on issued documents, according to the V&V plan;

(7) ensuring the execution of the specific tests required by Signalling and Validation departments;

(8) ensuring reporting to the Commissioning Manager of non-compliances and delays of commissioning activities; and

(9) ensuring review of documents to issue the as-built documentation.

Required Skills/ Knowledge 

Must have experience with the following:

(1) railway signalling design and delivery of functional design documentation;

(2) single and double line track and cable plans for interlocking locations;

(3) reviewing, analyzing and designing relay- and microprocessor-based wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established signalling design principles for North America signalling systems;

(4) developing, debugging, and troubleshooting signalling application logic using MicroLok II Development System;

(5) developing factory and field test procedures, performing factory and field test setup, and testing train control technology for North America signalling market;

(6) hardware and software application logic design;

(7) onsite support for factory acceptance tests;

(8) analyzing specifications and regulatory documentation; and

(9) verification of test procedures and technical documentation.

Education/Qualifications 

(1) Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology;  plus

(2) 5 years of experience performing testing and commissioning in signalling roles in or for the railway industry is required.
