Antibody Validation Group | Customer Applications | R&D

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our dynamic Antibody Validation team. This role emphasizes immunohistochemistry (IHC) expertise while also leveraging advanced computational and image analysis skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of agility and technical proficiency that will be leveraged to support evolving business needs and our innovative antibody business. As a pivotal team member, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration, lead validation projects, and mentor junior staff in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for IHC workflows, including tissue preparation, antibody optimization, staining, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and execute antibody validation studies for IHC, ensuring exceptional specificity, reproducibility, and scientific rigor.
  • Leverage advanced image analysis platforms and computational tools to extract meaningful insights from complex IHC datasets.
  • Perform validations across additional antibody applications such as ICC, WB, Flow Cytometry, and multiplex IF to support evolving needs.
  • Demonstrate scientific agility by seamlessly adapting to evolving business priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Drive end-to-end validation processes from experimental design to data analysis and reporting.
  • Lead high-complexity projects and process improvement initiatives, while ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Research Associates and Advanced Research Associates.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data internally and externally, showcasing key findings and demonstrating mastery in IHC applications.
  • Draft, revise, and implement SOPs while adhering to quality control standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Product Management, and other stakeholders to integrate IHC and antibody validation insights into the broader R&D pipeline.
  • Utilize internal databases and Smartsheet for sample tracking, data entry, and project documentation.

Other Duties

  • Champion laboratory safety by adhering to all company policies, chemical hygiene requirements, and exposure control procedures.
  • Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance, and upgrades for IHC and related systems.
  • Manage laboratory consumable inventory and proactively address operational needs in alignment with compliance standards.

HIRING QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 5+ years’ experience.
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 3+ years’ experience.
  • Expertise in all aspects of IHC

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in computational and AI tools for image analysis and data visualization (e.g., ImageJ, Halo, Visiopharm).
  • Hands-on experience with other antibody applications (ICC, WB, Flow Cytometry, multiplex immunofluorescence).
  • Experience using spatial biology platforms.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of antibody validation processes and IHC nuances.
  • Strong critical thinking and data interpretation skills, especially involving quantitative IHC metrics.
  • Proficiency with laboratory software and tools, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and data tracking platforms (e.g., Smartsheet).
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience in presenting data to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to lead projects, influence teams, and drive alignment with company priorities.
  • Passion for integrating IHC-derived insights with spatial biology initiatives and customer-focused innovation.
