Overview

About the Role & Team
IDC is looking for a Senior Research Analyst to support IDC's storage research. As part of the Data and Storage Infrastructure research subdomain, the analyst will contribute to IDC's research on storage systems, server-based storage, software-defined storage, and industry-level trends, including emerging AI storage architectures. The analyst will support senior analysts in advancing conversations with vendors, providers, regulatory bodies, end users, and other IDC analysts to ensure the storage narrative is well-rounded, both qualitatively and quantitatively.

What You'll Do

Serve as a supporting analyst for IDC's global enterprise storage infrastructure coverage. Support senior analysts in delivering qualitative and quantitative insights and advice to technology vendors, IT buyers, and the investment community. Develop and maintain market models for specific segments of the storage market, including server-based, file-based, and object-based storage. Develop and deliver rich insights on the industry (key vendor, product, and technology trends) and the market (key adoption trends). Collaborate with infrastructure and device analysts to encompass insights into a bigger picture on storage platforms, systems, and services. Contribute to the production of reports on the current state of the industry and trends defining its future growth.

What You Bring
  • Required Bachelor's degree in a STEM and/or related field
  • ~5 years of direct end-user or vendor experience in the enterprise data storage or IT infrastructure industry.
  • Strong quantitative and/or modeling skills (working with a database is a bonus)

  • 1 week paid new parenting leave
  • Flexible work options (remote, part-time, flexible hours)
  • Health, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage for you and your family
  • Annual healthcare spending account
  • Employee Assistance Program for counseling and support
  • Best Doctors medical second opinions
  • Life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company match (up to 4% of salary)
  • $75/month technology allowance for home office or phone expenses

Compensation Transparency

At IDC, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Employees are compensated equitably for their work, aligned with their skills and experience. Salary and incentive structures are determined through a rigorous process that considers experience, education, certifications, role-specific requirements, internal equity, and verified Canada market data from an independent third-party partner.

The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $67,000 CAD - $120,000 CAD, inclusive of base salary and variable compensation.

If this role relocates to a different country, the salary range will be updated to reflect that country's range, rather than a currency conversion of the original range.
