Responsibilities

Our Regulatory team provides essential guidance to TikTok and its family of products, ensuring that our innovation is matched with compliance, responsibility, and foresight. We empower the business by navigating complex regulatory landscapes, shaping strategies that allow our teams to achieve their boldest ambitions while meeting evolving legal and policy expectations. The Regulatory team is responsible for managing regulatory matters, including advising on new and existing frameworks, engaging with regulators, and ensuring proactive alignment with fast-changing laws across multiple jurisdictions. We are seeking an exceptional regulatory lawyer to join a high-performing global team responsible for some of the most complex and high-profile regulatory issues facing the company. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing regulatory strategy, assessing the impact of proposed and existing legislation, and advising on a wide-variety of engagements including government organizations or government officials. This is a fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to work on challenging issues across a variety of jurisdictions with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities - Monitor and analyze emerging regulatory developments across U.S. federal, state, and international jurisdictions, including new laws, regulations, standards, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the company's products and services. - Assess applicability and business impact of new regulatory requirements by collaborating with cross-functional partners (e.g., policy, product, compliance, and operations) to provide timely legal analysis, interpretations, and implementation guidance. - Support responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations, including coordinating with internal stakeholders, developing legal positions, and helping manage communications with regulators. - Partner with the government relations team to inform regulatory engagement strategies, including providing legal analysis that supports advocacy, consultations, and discussions with policymakers and regulators. - Develop internal guidance and processes to help the company anticipate, track, and operationalize regulatory developments in a scalable and practical way.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Qualified to practice law in the U.S. - 5+ years of relevant experience gained across government, private practice and/or in-house. - Understanding of the key global US regulations, standards and frameworks, as well as political laws and regulatory guidelines. - Ability to independently identify and evaluate legal and reputational risk in business contexts and make well-informed recommendations. - Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners in a complex and challenging environment. - Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience working in technology company or a large, multinational company environment.

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (Annually) - Washington, DC

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $ 156600 - $ 281880 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
