Full Job Description
Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead implementation projects. This role may be used to supplement the client (utility) team or used to partner with the software vendor and help lead the delivery of chosen software solution.

Reporting to the Director of Project Management, this is a senior, full-time position for an experienced project leader who understands software delivery from a technology vendor or systems implementor side. Experience on the client (utility) side is a plus, but not required. You will own the successful delivery of your assigned client projects while helping advance how WCG executes - including further developing our PMO standards and templates and integrating advanced technology and AI automation into the way we manage projects.

You will serve as the bridge between software development teams, the delivery team, and clients - the liaison who turns complexity into a clear, well-run project. Beyond day-to-day delivery, you will contribute to the standards, templates, and methodology that strengthen the practice, and you will look for opportunities to apply modern tools and AI-driven automation to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Lead individual client implementation projects end to end, owning the successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Partner with vendor and client-side project managers and teams to keep implementations on track and stakeholders aligned.
  • Manage scope, timelines, budgets, resources, and risk, holding both internal teams and vendor partners accountable in a constructive, relationship-centered way.
  • Help further develop WCG Delivery's PMO standards, templates, and delivery methodology, contributing tools and improvements that future projects and project managers will use.
  • Integrate advanced technology and AI automation into project management workflows - identifying, piloting, and applying tools that improve efficiency, reporting, and delivery quality.
  • Act as the bridge between software developers, the delivery team, and the client, translating between technical and delivery needs and keeping all parties aligned.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across clients, vendor partners, and internal teams - the foundation of successful delivery.
  • Provide project reporting, facilitating steering committee meetings and communicating project status, risks, and recommendations.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
  • PMP certification preferred. A relevant master's degree and/or equivalent project management experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Substantial project management experience leading complex software implementations, ideally gained with a software vendor or systems implementor (CIS or utility-sector experience is a plus but not required).
  • Proven ability to manage scope and expectations with demanding clients - finding ways forward without creating adversarial dynamics.
  • Strong command of the mechanics of project management: planning, resourcing, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging advanced technology and AI automation to streamline project management, with a willingness to learn, pilot, and adopt new tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder-relationship skills and a consistent track record of following through on commitments.
  • Experience working alongside or as a systems implementor, coordinating between vendors, integrators, and client teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust quickly and create accountability across organizations without direct authority.
  • Interest in contributing to PMO standards, templates, and continuous process improvement.
