Full Job Description
Position Overview

We are seeking a Director of Project Management to help launch and lead delivery for WCG Delivery. This is a senior, full-time position for an experienced project leader who understands software delivery from a technology vendor or systems implementor side. Experience on the client (utility) side is a plus but not required. We need someone who can drive complex implementations while building the standards, methodology, and team that will define how WCG Delivery operates going forward.

You will serve as the bridge between software development teams, the delivery team, and clients - the liaison who turns complexity into a clear, well-run project. Just as important, you will be establishing the PMO standards and delivery methodology for this line of business and mentoring the project managers who will follow them.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Serve as project manager on key implementation projects (approximately 60-80 hours per month), partnering with vendor and client-side project managers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Define and document WCG Delivery's project standards, delivery methodology, and PMO framework - the playbook that future projects and WCG project managers will follow.
  • Act as the bridge between software developers, the delivery team, and the client, translating between technical and delivery needs and keeping all parties aligned.
  • Manage scope, timelines, budgets, resources, and risk across engagements, holding both internal teams and vendor partners accountable in a constructive, relationship-centered way.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across clients, vendor partners, and internal teams - the foundation of successful delivery.
  • Provide executive-level project reporting, facilitating steering committee meetings and communicating project status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Mentor and train other project managers, raising the bar for delivery quality across the practice.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
  • PMP certification preferred. A relevant master's degree and/or equivalent project management experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Substantial project management experience leading complex software implementations, ideally gained with a software vendor or systems implementor (CIS or utility-sector experience is a plus but not required).
  • Proven ability to manage scope and expectations with demanding clients - finding ways forward without creating adversarial dynamics.
  • Strong command of the mechanics of project management: planning, resourcing, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent stakeholder-relationship skills and a consistent track record of following through on commitments.
  • Experience working alongside or as a systems implementor, coordinating between vendors, integrators, and client teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build trust quickly, and create accountability across organizations without direct authority.
  • Passion for building - standardizing processes, establishing a PMO, and developing other project managers.

Role Progression

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape not only project outcomes, but also how WCG Delivery executes projects as the practice continues to evolve. This position is intentionally designed to grow with the organization. We see two clear phases:

Phase 1 - Deliver and Define

You will lead two direct implementation projects with a dual focus: delivering each project successfully and using that hands-on work to define the project standards and delivery methodology that future projects and WCG project managers will follow. You set the example and write the playbook at the same time.

Phase 2 - Lead the PMO

As WCG Delivery scales, you will have the opportunity to move into a PMO leadership role - overseeing the standards you established, providing oversight of future projects, and leading and developing the project managers delivering them. This is a path from doer to leader, with real ownership of how this part of the business operates.

Location, Travel & Compensation

Reporting: Reports to the Director of Project Management.

Work Arrangement: Remote. WCG is a work-from-home company. Certain projects may require maintaining Eastern time-zone working hours to align with client and project teams.

Travel: Approximately 25-40%, depending on project phase and client needs.

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential.

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(K)

Why Join Us:
  • Help build a growing systems implementor practice from the ground up.
  • Influence the PMO standards and delivery methodology that future projects will follow.
  • Partner with leading utility software vendors on large-scale enterprise implementations.
  • Work alongside experienced consultants in a collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Competitive compensation, bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for long-term leadership.
