Job Summary

Langan is seeking a SeniorProject Manager - Traffic/Transportation Operations to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will support a variety of traffic operations and transportation engineering projects, with a focus on improving system performance, safety, and multimodal mobility. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of operational and infrastructure initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective and innovative transportation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Responsibilities
  • Drive project execution across traffic operations and transportation engineering initiatives through implementation, ensuring alignment with broader team objectives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee and contribute to technical work related to:
    • Traffic signal timing, coordination, and system optimization
    • Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations and corridor management
    • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and deployment
    • Signal system maintenance, asset management, and performance monitoring (SPM)
    • Traffic operations studies, warrant analyses, and operational improvements
    • Traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic
    • Multimodal and Complete Streets initiatives, including traffic calming strategies
  • Coordinate with municipalities, transportation agencies, contractors, and utility partners to support successful, on-time project delivery.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality control for junior staff.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and/or traffic operations experience.
  • Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of traffic operations principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools and industry software is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
