Full Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Plans all phases of the engineering and construction project lifecycle from order intake to payment received.
• Leads project meetings, creates agendas, assigns action items, follows up on open action items, and holds team accountable for commitments.
• Creates detailed schedule that outlines due dates for each task, rolling up to milestones and deliverables.
• Creates and updates project level forecast monthly for all assigned projects.
• Implement change management protocols and ensure teams are performing against the scope as written
• Monitors utilization and works with engineering managers and construction managers to ensure resources are correctly allocated to the project.
• Manages permit coordinators, ensures team is updating applicable trackers at appropriate intervals and sets priorities for them.
• Professionally communicates with clients and all other stakeholders (both internal and external).
• Clears roadblocks impacting the design, field, permitting, and GIS teams.
• Collaborates with construction manager and engineering managers (design, field, permit, and GIS).
• Provides weekly updates on project financial health on internal calls and speaks to monthly forecast each week.
• Meets with Jurisdictions Having Authority (JHAs) and communicates all applicable local, state, national codes and regulations, and safety precautions are followed by the design and permitting team.
• Coaches and mentors team, including other project managers when appropriate.
• Conducts performance management functions when necessary and follows through with proper documentation.
• Escalates internally when challenges arise between engineering and construction (or within a given team) for resolution.
• Submits and approves timesheets daily with the appropriate time coded to the project, aspect, and task.
• Conducts interviews of permit coordinators, project coordinator candidates and project managers and is involved in hiring decisions.
• Stays current with scope changes and understands the scope applicable to the work being performed to maintain change control and where appropriate, complete change orders with the client.
• Comes well prepared for meetings with client, peer managers and SQUAN Leadership.
• Focuses on high level customer interaction to both internal and external customers.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of PMO or Program Manager.
• Collaborates with Construction Support team to ensure proper status reporting and that efficiencies are maximized between engineering and construction.
• Collaborate with Program Manager and PMO Director to propose/develop best in class practices for project management are in place for new clients and markets.
• Work with PMO Director to present proposed changes to PM practices and standards to appropriate VPs for buy in where appropriate.
• Implementation of approved process changes across the organization

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knows how to use standard project management software.
• Ability to balance Client expectations with engineering needs and construction requirements and be able to balance being accountable to all three.
• Builds strong relationships with clients, contractors, and construction team.
• Strong knowledge of outside plant engineering, permitting, and design
• Ability to manage multiple projects in multiple markets simultaneously and/or the ability to manage one large project or program successfully.
• Ability to manage, coach, and develop project managers.
• Ability to comprehend complex scopes/statements of work and quickly identify out of scope
• Has strong working knowledge of OSP that allows for building sufficiently detailed trackers, schedules, and budgets.
• Manages Permit Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers through regular communication, setting clear expectations, trains and coaches when needed, and assists with professional development.
• Excels at organization, time-management, problem-solving, planning, forecasting and budgeting.
• Strong work ethic, leads by example, takes ownership of project and tasks performed by himself/herself and the team, and does what it takes to get the job done and meet/exceed client expectations.
• Attention to detail and takes pride in his/her work.
• Very proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and with various other software programs for data entry.
• Ability to communicate professionally at all times, with clarity, at the frequencies required by management and customers.
• Ability to understand different personalities and adjust approach accordingly.
• Able to articulate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms
• Must be able to give feedback in a constructive manner and be able to adjust messaging based on the audience to get the desired results.
• Attends client meetings and represents Squan as the single point of contact for projects assigned.
• Ability to travel to multiple sites as required.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Must be 18 or older
• Three years of telecommunication project management experience or 5 years of experience in a Lead or Coordinator role with similar responsibilities in the telecommunication industry
• Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
• Strong proficiency in MS Office
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Valid driver's license

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, management, engineering or a related degree
• PMP Certification
• Experience managing turnkey, EPC, and design/build projects in the telecommunication industry.
